LaPrairie Crane,a member of LaPrairie Group of Companies, is looking for a full-time Service Writer to join their team in Fort St. John, BC.

In the role of Service Writer, you will work in a shop environment, opening, updating and closing repair orders, processing mechanical purchasing quotes and updating equipment maintenance information for LaPrairie Cranes branches in Tumbler Ridge, BC; Fort St. John, BC; Grande Prairie; AB, and Grimshaw; AB. You will also support Capstan Haulings mechanical team in Grande Prairie, AB.
Roles and Responsibilities
Repair Orders in TMT/Shop Planner
- Populate details of repair concerns in Shop Planner.
- Convert Shop Planner information to Repair Orders (RO).
- Create Repair Order section plans and assign Mechanics.
- Create PO requests for parts and materials and request approvals to purchase.
- Create Vendor Repair Orders (VRO) as required.
- Verify and confirm that the unit meters, odometer readings and CVIPS are correct and updated.
- Update Labor line items as per mechanical time within TMT.
- Set ROs to complete.
Quote Processing and Approvals
- Review parts listings as provided in quote by NAPA.
- Confirm that parts have been received by mechanic for repair.
- Confirm repair order information and section work with mechanic to open repair order as required.
- Coded quote to be approved by mechanical supervisor / VP and returned to NAPA for processing.
- Review NAPA integration for failures and correct as required.
Other Responsibilities Maintenance of Reports/Records in TMT
- Processing and upload of CVIP/NDT documentation to AM, TMT, SharePoint, and review of data on SSRS Report.
- Review of unit profile data updating as required.
- Updating of unit registration information when documentation is provided.
- Other related duties as required.
Required Skills
- Previous experience in mechanical shop or maintenance environment.
- Previous experience with automotive / commercial / heavy equipment maintenance management systems.
- Proven computer literacy, data entry, data editing and typing skills.
- Grade 12 Diploma or GED. Post secondary certification in mechanical / maintenance or business administration fields are preferred.
- Competent in Microsoft Office, with a solid understanding of Excel.
- Highly organized with strong time management skills.
- Ability to prioritize under tight deadlines.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Solid communication skills (verbal & written).
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
- Must have valid driver's license.
