The Opportunity:

This national role is a key contributor to Parkland's growth plans for our convenience store network and our On the Run brand. The Planogram Specialist will be responsible for new, re-merchandised and existing stores by creating and publishing complete sets of accurate planograms in accordance with schedules. In addition, this position supports merchandising team with analytics to category managers to develop and maintain assortments. This role will collaborate with various internal stakeholders including Merchandising, Space Planning and Analytics Teams. The Planogram Specialist will also have primary responsibility of creating planograms in Relex software.

Responsibilities:

Planogram Development & Management

  • Lead the development of core planograms, providing guidelines for store-specific versions.
  • Support category maintenance decisions by generating planograms in line with timelines.
  • Communicate merchandising instructions, item/product support, assortment decisions, and store lists.
  • Create and publish complete sets of accurate planograms in Relex software.

Category & Assortment Management

  • Partner with Category Management during Category Reviews and Refreshes.
  • Conduct analyses to identify key drivers of performance and recommend assortment changes.
  • Forecast demand for new and existing products, considering factors like seasonality and promotions.
  • Own assortment planning tools and deliver insights based on multiple data sources.
  • Develop and maintain assortment clusters for the store network to drive localization.
  • Monitor and adjust assortment plans balancing SKU productivity, space utilization, and profitability.

Data Analytics & Performance Tracking

  • Utilize data analytics/BI tools to track key performance metrics.
  • Analyze data from various sources (syndicated data, market research, retailer POS) to provide actionable insights.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance analysis and execution speed.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with the Space Planning and Analytics teams to drive analytical insights into category reviews.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with cross-functional teams (e.g., space planning, merchandising).
  • Communicate across departments to ensure proper execution of planograms and assortments.
  • Support space planning with assortment insights for store layout and design.

Process Improvement & Strategic Initiatives

  • Lead initiatives to improve the speed, execution, and tracking of category reviews and assortment updates.
  • Manage strategic assortment initiatives that span multiple departments, ensuring effective communication at all management levels

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree required, preferably in business or finance.
  • 2+ years of related experience.
  • Excellent analytical skills, including demonstrated aptitude with category analysis and ability to generate insights from large or complex data sets.
  • Experience with Excel (advanced spreadsheet analytics) and Space Planning Software. Knowledge of BI Tools (Tableau / Power BI) an asset but not required.
  • Excellent communication skills including ability to constructively articulate viewpoint to category management team.
  • Experience with merchandise planning, category management and item hierarchy administration.
  • Effectively prioritize multiple demands; adjust to change quickly and work constructively under stress.
  • Creative problem solver able to make sound decisions based on data and standards.
  • Outstanding team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lead and actively contribute to cross-functional teams comprised of peers and supervisors.
  • Bilingual an asset but not required.
