The Opportunity:
Reporting to the Vice President of Finance Shared Services (FSS), the Principal of FSS Transformation leads strategic initiatives to drive significant organizational change. The successful candidate will combine strategic vision and leadership with practical execution skills to lead sustainable transformation across, but not limited to, the FSS function.
This role will execute the vision and roadmap for the FSS transformation function – ensuring consistent and thoughtful application of transformation best practices ranging from policies and procedures, process improvement, project prioritization, and change management.
The position requires deep understanding of accounting process/controls and finance operations, the ability to think strategically, build cross-functional relationships, apply critical thinking skills, and mentor and develop a high performing team. The position oversees two Project Managers and provides functional direction to a dedicated Organizational Change Management resource.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning:
- Collaborate with senior leadership to identify opportunities for enhancing processes, reducing costs, and mitigating risks, ensuring that every initiative contributes to the organization's overall business objectives.
- Supervise the planning, execution, and delivery of intricate finance transformation initiatives
- Currently looking 6 months out; goal is to be looking 3-5 years out.
Process Optimization:
- Utilize a profound understanding of current financial processes and controls to uncover opportunities for streamlining, integration into FSS, cost reduction, and efficiency enhancement.
- Assist as needed in the completion of comprehensive process mapping and documentation of applicable essential processes and controls, creating a detailed blueprint that supports operational continuity.
Project Management:
- Provide leadership for the development and execution of end-to-end transformation projects, including planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting on key milestones and deliverables. Supported by two Project Manager/Business Analyst
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Collaborate with stakeholders at senior, middle and front-line levels of the organization to gain buy-in, gather requirements, identify dependencies, and ensure alignment with business objectives.
Change Management:
- Oversee and champion change management efforts with vigor, driving the adoption of new processes, technologies, and organizational structures. This role is bolstered by the expertise of an Organizational Change Management (OCM) Specialist.
Risk Management and Performance Measurement:
- Establish KPIs and performance metrics to track the success of initiatives and drive continuous improvement.
- Identify, mitigate and communicate, when necessary, potential risks to transformation initiatives
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls
Team Development and Leadership:
- Build and lead a high-performing transformation team.
- Encourage a collaborative and supportive work environment where teamwork thrives
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Requirements:
- CPA with at least 5 years' experience as a controller or assistant controller of a large public company. Change management, project management and large transformation experience strongly preferred.
- Proven experience leading business transformation initiatives within a finance shared services environment or equivalent Parkland Finance leadership
- Strong understanding of finance processes and controls, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting.
- Demonstrated project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results within scope, budget, and timeline.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze complex issues, develop innovative solutions, and drive change within a dynamic business environment.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) preferred.
- Ability to travel as needed.
