The Role

The Parts Distribution Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the distribution facility, ensuring operational efficiency and profitability. This includes managing the workforce, maintaining inventory, and optimizing resources to meet company goals. The ideal candidate is a highly organized and results-driven leader with strong communication and people management skills, able to foster a positive work environment and achieve excellence in customer service and operational performance.

Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership: Directly manage the operations of the parts distribution center (PDC), ensuring the effective use of manpower, facilities, equipment, and resources to meet company goals
  • Performance Metrics: Meet or exceed all defined key performance indicators (KPIs) including quality, productivity, safety, and customer service
  • Budget & Planning: Develop and oversee PDC expense and capital plans, and ensure the efficient allocation of resources to meet operational objectives
  • Employee Development: Mentor and lead a high-performing team, fostering a positive and empowering work environment. Ensure the development of staff for future leadership roles within the organization
  • Customer Relations: Provide unparalleled customer service by building and maintaining relationships with customers, dealers, and suppliers. Manage external contacts and maintain a focus on customer satisfaction
  • Safety & Security: Ensure the facility adheres to safety regulations and best practices while promoting a safe, healthy, and secure working environment
  • Technology & Innovation: Stay up to date with technological advancements in distribution and logistics and implement improvements in operations
  • Travel & External Engagement: Travel minimally (approx. 15%), including occasional day trips and overnight stays to visit local dealerships across Western Canada and sister facilities

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in distribution-related functions such as customer service, transportation, operations, and inventory management is required
  • At least 5 years of experience in a managerial role, managing between 5-10 direct reports is required
  • Proven track record in managing and motivating teams, with strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to identify issues, resolve conflicts, and implement effective solutions in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), and experience with distribution management systems
