As a Senior Mechanical Estimator, you will lead the pursuit of major mechanical construction projects from concept to proposal. Youll be the technical expert, trusted collaborator, and project leader that clients, consultants, and teammates count on.

Reporting to the Director of Estimating & Procurement, the Senior Mechanical Estimator will:

  • Interpret and analyze project documentation (drawings, specifications, scopes of work, contracts) across all disciplines.
  • Lead RFI processes, subcontractor bid analysis, and value engineering opportunities.
  • Develop comprehensive proposals including risk assessments, allowances, and clarifications.
  • Coordinate RFQ and RFP submissions with accurate and timely supporting documentation (QA/QC, safety, bonding, etc.).
  • Maintain accurate estimating databases for future benchmarking and forecasting.
  • Support smooth project handovers with thorough documentation and communication.
  • Represent PMP with professionalism at industry events, client meetings, and site visits.
  • Build and maintain strong vendor and subcontractor relationships.
  • Promote PMPs core values both internally and externally.
  • Mentor junior estimators and contribute to a culture of learning and excellence.
  • Collaborate with leadership on strategy, process improvements, and SOP development.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates using trade-specific take-offs and supplier quotes.
    Identify and complete scope gaps and ensure compliance with applicable codes (BCPC, TSBC, CSA, ANSI, ASHRAE, etc.).

  • A proven track record contributing to successful mechanical estimates within a collaborative team environment.
  • Solid knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems in construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of and ability to apply Canadian construction codes and standards.
    Skilled in interpreting complex construction documents, identifying scope gaps, and filling in missing HVAC and plumbing information based on experience, code knowledge, and practical constructability.
  • Technically proficient, detail-oriented, and committed to quality.
  • Strong communicator who builds trust and fosters positive working relationships.
  • Guided by honesty, integrity, and accountability in all professional interactions.
  • Steady under pressure, with the ability to support the team through tight timelines and shifting priorities.
