Michif Child & Family Services (MCFS) Agency is a mandated child and family services agency with the responsibility to administer and manage culturally appropriate community-based child protection and support services for Metis and Inuit people in Manitoba.

RECEPTIONIST - Summer Student Employment Program

Full-time, Term Position ending August 29, 2025

Classification:$17.25 per hour

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday - 7.25 hours per day

Location: Dauphin, Manitoba

POSITION SUMMARY

The Agency seeks to fill one summer term Receptionist position. The Receptionist will work to provide excellent customer services and reception services to families, visitors, and office staff, in addition to supporting a variety of departments in the archiving and maintenance of Agency files.

Eligibility

  • Red River Manitoba Metis Citizenship (will need to provide proof with citizenship card)
  • Grade 12 diploma and educational transcripts from a recognized post-secondary institution
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Between the ages of 18-30 years old who attended school full-time during the previous year and who intends to return to a post secondary program on a full-time basis in the following academic year. (Part-Time and distance education students do no qualify)

Experience

  • Intermediate MS software skills
  • Ability to enter data according to specified format and ensure data integrity and accuracy.
  • Ability to sort and distribute incoming and outgoing forms.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Advanced communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to maintain highly sensitive and confidential information in all interactions.
  • Ability to interact with people in a respectful, tactful, diplomatic, and professional manner.
  • Demonstrate understanding and appreciation of Metis and Inuit culture.
  • Provide knowledgeable support for all equipment; e.g. fax, photocopier, computer, etc.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receive and register documents for data collection.
  • Enter data according to specified format while ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
  • Provide professional customer service to general public
  • Receive, screen, assess, transfer telephone calls and take messages
  • Sort and distribute incoming and outgoing mail and forms
  • Maintain adequate and accurate hard and electronic files.
  • Perform clerical duties, such as maintain filing, record systems, and archiving.
  • Perform general office duties; faxing, scanning, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

Prior to commencing employment the successful applicant will be asked to provide satisfactory results of a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, a Child Abuse Registry Check, and Prior Contact Check at their own expense. A valid Manitoba drivers license and the use of a personal vehicle are requisites as travel is required.
