Responsibilities:

  • Lead the report conversion activities from BOEXI to Power BI reports estimated up to 900 for 2025-26 fiscal year
  • Supports Client's wide-ranging business information requirements, implementing and supporting business intelligence software solutions
  • Develops and supports customized query applications which analyze key business data
  • Develops and supports guided analysis and drill-down functionality, routine scheduling and notification of report generation, and effective implementation of “opportunity” and “key-trend” alerts
  • Provides Clients with approach options and tools for managing business-related data in a manner that assists in quantitative analysis of progress and the relationship between operational actions and their effect on business objectives
  • Conduct workshops and requirements-gathering sessions with clients on BI & Data Analytics Initiative
  • Conduct data integration, data cleansing, data modeling and analytics
  • Develop feedback processes to fix corrupt data in the source systems

Requirements

General Skills:

  • Experience with analyzing data in source systems to identify data cleanliness issues (e.g. missing values, duplicate meanings, and invalid data)
  • Experience with developing feedback processes to fix corrupt data in the source systems
  • Experience with developing data extraction, transformation, and load programs (daily and initial load) functionality on a wide range of data repositories (structured and semi-structured files, relational and multi-dimensional data stores)
  • Experience with developing, implementing and maintaining schedule/dependency logic for Extract Transform Load (ETL) scripts
  • Experience with developing monitoring and error notification processes to ensure data is updated as designed
  • Experience with developing automation extraction, cleansing and load scripts
  • Experience designing visual dashboards to highlight trends and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and developing canned reports (scheduled and ad-hoc)
  • Proven troubleshooting and analytical experience
  • Experience in process decomposition/mapping and business process re-engineering and complex data models using UML.
  • Experience in the use of development tools and business re-engineering software
  • Experience in developing enterprise architecture deliverables (e.g. business, logical, and physical models) based on Enterprise Application Processes and Modeling methodology and guidelines
  • Experience with the Microsoft suite of technology including: Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake, and Power BI
  • Experience with data modeling and design principles for data marts and data warehouses

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge and experience in developing data analysis applications
  • Knowledge and understanding of Information Management principles, concepts, policies and practices
  • Ability to provide expert advice in developing and integrating process and information models to enable identifying and eliminating redundant business processes
  • Experience with developing monitoring and error notification processes to ensure data is updated as designed
  • Hands on experience working with stakeholders to develop and document interface specifications design between Business Intelligence solutions and external applications
  • Extensive experience with conceptual, logical and physical data modelling tools like Power Designer, and Visio
  • Knowledge and understanding of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) and related regulations and standards

Evaluation Criteria
Technical Proficiency - 40%
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge and expertise in various BI tools and technologies, such as data modeling, ETL processes, data visualization, and reporting.
  • Experience with the Microsoft suite of technology including: Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake, and Power BI

Data Analysis Skills - 30%

  • Exhibits strong data analysis capabilities, including data mining, data interpretation, and the ability to derive meaningful insights to support decision-making.

Business Acumen - 20%

  • Understands the organization's goals, processes, and industry context, and can translate business requirements into effective BI solutions that drive strategic outcomes.

Communication Skills - 10%

  • Effectively communicates complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and can collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver BI solutions.

Must Haves:

  • Experience in using Power BI and other data visualization tools to create reports and dashboards, perform data exploration, and manage datasets.
  • Expertise in designing interactive and visually appealing reports and dashboards using Power BI Desktop, including selecting appropriate visualizations and arranging elements for clarity.
  • Experience in performing DAX formulas and functions for performing calculations, aggregations, and custom calculations in Power BI
  • Understanding of good UI design in delivering rich user experience by creating custom visuals and themes in Power BI to enhance report aesthetics and functionality.
