JOB TITLE: INSTRUCTOR (Sessional) at the Bachelor in Hospitality Management for Health Care Adm. courses
We are thrilled to announce that we are hiring Sessional Instructors for our Bachelor of Hospitality Management for the next coming Spring of 2025.
POSITION OVERVIEW: The ideal candidate will be capable of teaching all of any of the following courses in our Bachelor of Hospitality Management Degree Program:
- Health Information Systems:This course introduces students to the core concepts of health information systems, focusing on how medical recordsboth traditional and digitalare collected, stored, and managed. Students will explore system functions, structures, standards, and security, as well as legal, ethical, and legislative considerations. The course also examines best practices and the critical role these systems play in supporting patient care, research, and healthcare policy in Canada.
- Social determinants of Health in Canada: This course explores how systemic, structural, economic, and social factors influence health outcomes at local, regional, and national levels. Students will critically examine health inequities and propose solutions to current and emerging public health challenges.
- Healthcare Seminar:In this seminar-style course, students deepen their understanding of key health administration issues through problem-based learning, research, and interactive presentations. The course emphasizes critical thinking around healthcare management systems, customer needs, market dynamics, and administrative and financial challenges.
- Holistic Health and Wellness:This course explores evidence-informed theories and models of health and wellness, focusing on their impact on individual and community health promotion. Students will analyze health behaviors and the intersections of health, illness, disease, and disability using contemporary metrics.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of a master's degree in the teaching subject area or related field (e.g. Health Care Administration or Hospital Administration).
- 2 years of experience teaching the same or similar courses at another BC post-secondary institution
- 2-4 years of experience in the Health Care sector. Experience in Hospitality industry is an asset.

Schedule: Flexible, dependent on the availability. Minimum 1 course (5 hours per week, including 2 office hours), Maximum 3 courses (15 hours per week, including 6 office hours).
Salary: From $6,000 to $6,500 per course, per term (15 weeks)
Expected start date: 2025-05-05
