ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT:
The Cybersecurity and Network, Engineer is a subject matter expert who is responsible for the security and protection of all corporate data and traffic within the Ontario Northland IT infrastructure. They are also accountable for all network, video surveillance, and telecommunications infrastructure including VOIP and emergency notification systems.
The Cybersecurity and Network, Engineer establishes, enforces, monitors, and continuously improves all Cybersecurity and Network processes, standards, and controls. Having attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to partner with technical and non-technical stakeholders allows this individual to ensure the efficient, effective and secure use of IT assets.
MAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Review logs and reports of all in place security systems
  • Participate in execution of vulnerability assessments, penetration tests and security audits
  • Maintains and enforces IT security policies
  • Investigate any problematic activity
  • Recommend additional security solutions or enhancements to existing security solutions to improve overall enterprise security
  • Ensure secure configurations, security patches and operating system upgrades.
  • Perform network capacity planning, and conduct performance tuning of networking and voice infrastructure.
  • Participate in the planning and design of an enterprise business continuity plan and disaster recovery plan
  • Manage the Enterprise communication infrastructure to the highest standards by ensuring secure configurations and software upgrades
  • Perform the deployment, integration and initial configuration of all new security solutions and of any enhancements to existing security solutions in accordance with standard best practices
  • Design and participate in the development of future direction for the Enterprise information technology infrastructure
  • Plan, manage, document and lead network infrastructure projects
  • Monitor all in place security solutions for efficient and appropriate operations
  • Manage and maintain all security systems and their corresponding or associated software, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, cryptography systems, video surveillance, and anti-virus systems in collaboration with colleagues
  • Review logs and reports of all in place physical security of sensitive locations, whether within direct control or not, and take appropriate action where required
  • Manage and maintain emergency notification system for first aid alerts, 911 notification and evacuation alarms
  • Provide communications and security infrastructure design solutions; lead and participate in infrastructure design teams
  • Participate in the Department's application development projects as a network and communications specialist and solution provider, with the overall aim of providing well designed, secure solutions
  • Participate in the creation of enterprise security documents (policies, standards, baselines, guidelines and procedures)
  • Take the lead in planning and implementing the actions required to achieve the maximum availability, security and functionality of the environment
  • Maintain up to date detailed knowledge of the IT security industry including awareness of new or revised security solutions, improved security processes and the development of new attacks and threat vectors
REQUIREMENTS:
  • University Degree or College Diploma in Computer Networking, Computer Science or Engineering
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent certification required
  • ITIL or similar (Six Sigma, Lean, COBIT, etc.)
  • CISSP certification an asset
  • 5+ years of experience in the IT Network and Security field
  • Extensive experience in networking and video surveillance technologies
  • Knowledge and experience working with a Virtual Server and Cloud Infrastructure environment
  • Excellent knowledge and experience in a Microsoft environment
  • Proficiency in a Linux environment an asset
  • Project management skills – the ability to plan and manage successful projects, including managing risks, costs, time, and team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to train others on complex systems for support related activities
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Class G driver's license
