Summary:The Mechanical Package Engineer is responsible for specifying, recommending, directing and reviewing all aspects of a mechanical package. Package engineer will confirm that the package has been specified fit for purpose for the application and then coordinate and manage the vendor to ensure adherence to the scope, specifications and all technical requirements of the package. Ensures package is delivered on time and meets all project requirements as well as reviews all vendor documents and coordinates between the vendor and the disciplines to ensure package is on track.
Key Responsibilities

• Specify and complete Material Requisition (MR) packages for various types of mechanical equipment and packages (both static and rotating)
• Complete Technical Bid Evaluations of mechanical equipment and recommend technical acceptance
• Review vendor drawings and documents and ensure design accuracy and compliance with applicable technical codes and specifications
• Manage vendors to ensure quality, schedule and budget are met.
• Prepare engineering scope of work packages and work with vendors to supply mechanical equipment.
• Ensure effective use of global workshare to meet project requirements.
• Liaise with vendors and client on engineering issues.
• Interface with the other engineering disciplines to ensure a coordinated design.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Package engineering experience in Oil and Gas industry is a must.
• Knowledgeable with rotating equipment, specifically compressors is an asset.
• Experience with the NACE standards and its application.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Education and Qualifications:

• Successful candidate will be Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) within the province of Alberta.
• Mechanical Engineering degree.
• Minimum 5+ year's oil and gas experience (EPCM background).
• Excellent working knowledge of Static and Rotating Equipment Design
• Must be familiar with ABSA and AER requirements
• Knowledge and experience with applicable codes and standards (ASME, ABSA, API)
