Project Manager
Location: Toronto
General Accountability and Summary
This role will appeal to a collaborative individual, with a broad interest in and exposure to various aspects of study development and project management in the mining field. The individual will be motivated to play a role in taking TMG through its next phase of growth and development. Based in the Toronto Office and reporting to the Director, Projects & Engineering, the Project Manager is responsible for various technical, administrative, business development, and project management functions related to TMG's various project sites.
The successful candidate will be expected to be engaged on long-term and site-based construction and/or commissioning mandates. This will involve a high degree of business travel to remote and/or hardship sites for up to eight (8) weeks at a time, depending on the location and assignment conditions. This may also involve living in a construction and/or mining operations camp on the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and provide updates to various project execution targets and monitor progress against them.
- Develop execution plans and establish logic networks for sequencing of tasks related to engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, and commissioning activities.
- Be accountable for all project execution functions, including engineering, procurement, planning, cost controls, estimating, budget establishment, First Nations engagement, health & safety, environment, and permitting.
- Support the development of schedules for projects and studies.
- Monitor contractor performance against established schedule targets.
- Expedite contractor deliverables and adherence to the schedule.
- Organize and run weekly schedule review meetings with necessary stakeholders to assess and plan work on a 3-week rolling forecast.
- Following up on action items with responsible personnel to ensure that items are closed out completely and on time.
- Establish and implement quality assurance / quality control and risk programs for various project functions.
- Participation in the overall procurement process, including scope definition, tender evaluation and recommendation, contract award, kick-off meetings, and expediting both internal and external parties in order to meet the schedule requirements for various equipment packages.
- Participation in design and project execution review meetings.
- Regular travel to mine sites to meet with project stakeholders and/or long-term site assignments for construction and commissioning engagements will be required.
- Coordinate with the Owner Operations personnel for project feedback and execution support.
- Work with Operations teams as they are brought onto the Project to ensure a smooth transition to ongoing mine operations.
- Support TMG Corporate Business Development, Marketing, and/or Administrative tasks as required.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to execute plans and tasks within schedule and budget is essential.
- Ability to strategically and tactically organize and structure activities.
- Proven expertise in the design, construction, and commissioning of mining capital projects.
- Proven expertise in the development of project studies, execution plans, and gating criteria with knowledge of NI 43-101 standards and disclosure requirements.
- Strong problem-solving skills with appropriate risk management competencies.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure to meet tight project deadlines.
- Ability to lead negotiations and discussions with contractors, vendors, consultants, etc.
- Proven experience in leading a team of project personnel to achieve desired results and outcomes, with appropriate delegation skills.
- Strong document creation, preparation, editing and overall management skills using the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work proactively in a small team environment.
- Ability to interact with all stakeholders with tact and diplomacy.
- Equally comfortable at a mine site or a corporate office.
Experience, Qualifications & Education
- Minimum 5 years experience in the mining and metals industry.
- Minimum 10 years of aggregate experience in study development, project management, or site-based construction roles.
- University degree in relevant engineering discipline
- Experience directing internal and external teams involved in multiple activities.
- Experience in Mine Operations would be an asset.
- Experience in process, metallurgical, mining, or geotechnical engineering would be an asset.
- Fluency in a secondary language would be an asset (French or Spanish preferred).
- Licensed Professional Engineer.
- Past experience acting as a Qualified Person for NI 43-101 disclosures preferred.
