MISSION
The Food Services Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing inventory and ordering, and ensuring the kitchen operates safely and efficiently. Additionally, this role involves working collaboratively with leadership, program staff and residents to develop meal plans, including weekend menus, while maintaining a safe and organized kitchen environment.
The Pod Group is partnering with this organization to place a strong, determined, and strategic leader to fulfill the role of the Food Services Supervisor.
PRIORTIES
Accountability
- Lead and train staff and residents involved in meal preparation, ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations while maintaining efficiency in the kitchen.
- Responsible for scheduling, delegating tasks, and monitoring food service quality to ensure that meals meet program standards.
- Strong leadership, organizational skills and ability to work collaboratively with staff and residents to create a structured and supportive food service environment.
- Ability to work with Public Health, Ministry funders, and other regulatory entities to oversee compliance, licensing, and adherence to all food service-related regulations.
Meal Preparation & Planning
- Prepare nutritious meals daily for residents, staff, and youth in the program, that accommodate dietary needs and preferences.
- Develop and implement meal plans, including weekend menus and special events while ensuring a balanced menu with variety.
- Prepare and deliver high quality meals on schedule.
Menu Planning
- Lead and train staff in the development and implementation on best practice for youth focused and balanced meal plans, weekend food support that ensures they align with residents' dietary needs, preferences, cultural or religious considerations.
- Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations while maintaining efficiency in the kitchen.
Supply Chain & Inventory Management
- Oversight, budget creation, compliance and delivery responsibility for all perishable and non-perishable supplies,
- Maintaining appropriate inventories in compliance of provincial licensing standards.
- Track inventory levels, minimizing waste, and keeping detailed records of food orders and inventory.
Assisting with Kitchen Operations
- Supervise staff and residents assisting in the kitchen, always ensuring safety and cleanliness.
- Teach residents basic nutritional guidelines, food handling skills, safety and hygiene practices associated with meal/snack preparation.
Compliance & Food Safety
- Maintain strict adherence to all food safety regulations, including temperature control, proper storage, sanitation, and hygiene practices.
- Ensure kitchen and food preparation areas are kept clean, organized, and compliant with all local, state, and federal health codes.
Collaboration & Teamwork
- As part of the leadership team, the Supervisor will work closely with program leadership and staff to oversee all aspects of the food services associated with the Live-In Treatment program.
- Engage with residents and staff in a positive and supportive manner.
- Foster a team-oriented environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
TALENTS & EXPERTISE
- Must possess valid food service-related certifications, such as a Food Handler's Certificate or ServSafe certification, or equivalent credentials.
- Experience working with youth in a treatment or residential setting preferred.
- Ability to adapt meals and cooking methods to meet the needs of youth, including dietary restrictions, allergies, and other health considerations.
- Strong knowledge of nutrition, food safety, and meal planning.
- Ability to prepare and cook meals for large groups while maintaining high standards of quality and presentation.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to ensure the food service department is closely coordinated with all aspects of the clinical programs and services within the centre.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy objects.
- Comfortable working in a kitchen environment, handling various cooking equipment and tools.
- Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, subject to applicable legislation.
