The Adult Day Program Recreation Therapist holds a leadership position in the Park Place Home and is responsible to develop, implement and monitor programs which meet the physical, social, emotional, spiritual, and intellectual needs of the clients that attend the program, as well as management of employees. Ensures a commitment to resident safety and to our “culture of safety” as per the Strategic Directions of Park Place.TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains a participatory and collaborative approach in the planning, implementation and evaluation of Recreation Therapy programs that reflect the needs of the different population groups of those attending the Adult Day Program.
- Assumes responsibility for the ADP department
- Responsible for training, supervision, and evaluation of ADP Health Care Aides
- Responsible to work within the STRATA Pathways system to admit and discharge clients
- Works closely with Alberta Health Services (AHS) Team to ensure programming requirements are being met
- Records complete, accurate and relevant data for clients according to AHS requirements.
- Responsible for monthly, quarterly and annual reporting to AHS
- Responsible for reporting fees as required by the program to AHS and Park Place Finance.
- Completes required audits issued by Park Place and AHS. Assurance program audits and evaluations including summary and action plans to determine results and effectiveness of current programs and client and family feedback.
- Responsible for the planning, preparation, implementation, and evaluation of programming within ADP
- Responsible for Calendar development and implementation, working in conjunction with ADP Health Care Aides
- Responsible for recording pertinent information regarding the progress of clients and completing quarterly assessments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English with a strong ability to communicate with and understand the changing needs of clients' attending the Adult Day Program.
- Must be organized, dependable, flexible and possess the ability to make decisions and be accountable for those decisions.
- Strong communicator with clients, families, employees, volunteers, and visitors.
- Proven ability to prioritize and organize workload.
- Team building skills. Ability to facilitate resolution of problems/conflicts.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English with a strong ability to communicate with and understand the changing needs of residents' living in long term care.

Previous experience coordinating recreation programs.
Previous experience coordinating and managing an Adult Day Program is an asset
