Dispatch/Customer Service

Hours: 7:00AM - 3:30PM, potential to work holidays and weekends in the summer, works onsite at our plant

Reporting to the Distribution Manager, this position is responsible for answering or responding to all inbound calls from customers and dispatching drivers to ensure all deliveries are made in a quick and efficient manner. In addition, the Dispatcher coordinates and maintains the dock area as well as maintaining the maintenance of all vehicles and loading the trucks with the forklift.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for correspondence with customers and dispatch drivers.
  • Communicates with drivers on day-to-day assignments.
  • Reconciles all cash and driver invoices.
  • Builds base routes for drivers.
  • Maintains handheld invoicing system.
  • Coordinates the dock area involving the loading of trucks, shipping, and receiving.
  • Evaluates the availability of trucks for ice delivery as well as for repairs and maintenance.
  • Reviews driver logs and vehicle inspection reports and monitors adherence and compliance based on metric reporting.
  • Supports DOT compliance and other safety initiatives.
  • Receives merchandiser repair calls and dispatches service technicians.
  • Additional duties may be assigned.

Salary - $20/hour


Candidate Qualifications:

  • 1 to 2 years' experience working in a distribution environment.
  • Forklift experience required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic math and cash handling skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting.
  • Comfortable with a fast-paced environment and ability to shift focus to meet client needs.
  • Must be comfortable working with hand held units.
  • Working knowledge in Microsoft Office products, including Excel and Outlook.
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends, holidays.
