SCOPE OF POSITION:
Reporting to the Manager, Policy & Advocacy, the Campaign Specialist is responsible for leading Oxfams advocacy campaigns and outreach actions to advance Oxfam Canadas influencing priorities. As the lead campaigner, the Specialist will work closely with policy colleagues, to conceptualize, design and deliver campaign strategies and actions.
The Campaigns Specialist will work in close collaboration with other Oxfam Canada staff to grow our base of supporters and expand our partnerships with community-based organizations and movements to advance our advocacy and campaign goals. As a passionate organizer, the Campaigns Specialist will be responsible for developing our campaign strategies and implementing them, developing creative and dynamic events and activities, both in person and online, that engage new and existing supporters, as well as building relationships with allies for joint advocacy and outreach events.
The Campaigns Specialist is a people person who enjoys making connections and building support for womens rights issues. They have the know-how and desire to develop digital engagement strategies, do in-person community organizing, and build alliances with grassroots activists and organizations.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: (This is not an exhaustive list of duties to be performed):
Strategy, Planning and Execution:
- Lead the development of the annual campaign strategy with relevant policy colleagues and delivery of overall campaign goals, in line with Oxfam Canadas public engagement strategy.
- Foster collaboration across departments and units to ensure aligned and cohesive public campaigning activities.
- Follow current affairs, Oxfam International working groups, allied organizations activities, and government and corporate relations on various thematic files led by the Oxfam policy team in order to identify opportunities and lead the delivery of campaign activities to advance Oxfam Canadas influencing goals.
- Lead on monitoring and evaluation of campaign performance, using key performance indicators and evaluating successes and challenges on a regular basis.
- Hold relationships with a wide range of vendors involved in event planning, including negotiating contracts and logistics.
- Lead in the development and implementation of project plans, including budgets.
- Identify and support fundraising opportunities for campaign actions.
Engagement and Mobilization:
- Deliver strategic campaigning and outreach activities including, but not limited to, email campaigns, digital and offline petition drives, public events and speaking engagements, media stunts and social media activities and creative engagement initiatives online and offline - as defined by campaign plans.
- Lead the development of digital and in-person public education and influencing activities on Oxfam Canadas advocacy priorities.
- Create campaign actions and pages on Engaging Networks, and stay on top of new developments and trends on Engaging Networks to maximize campaign impact.
- Create materials for ongoing campaign and outreach work, such as presentations, backgrounders, handout sheets and display materials, and source campaign swag and stunt materials.
- Work closely with other Outreach, Policy, Fundraising and Communications team members to develop materials, resources and strategies to inform and engage Oxfam supporters in campaigning and public education activities.
- Lead the development and run initiatives that mobilize people to participate in campaigns and engage in advocacy work on Oxfam Canadas priorities.
Networking and Alliance Building:
- Build relationships with a wide range of diverse community-based allies across the country to increase collaboration and joint advocacy and campaigning in support of womens rights and gender equality.
- Liaise, develop and maintain working relationships with relevant organizations, coalitions and individuals involved in campaigns across Canada and internationally to increase collaboration and joint advocacy and campaigning in support of womens rights and gender equality.
- Lead engagement with campus groups and support their engagement in our campaigns.
- Be a visible and dynamic ambassador for Oxfam Canada with volunteers, allies and coalitions and within the Oxfam confederation.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES:
- Advanced university degree in a directly related area such as international development, political science, gender studies, adult education or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in public education, campaigning and advocacy.
- Proven track record in developing and executing human rights campaigns and outreach strategies.
- Demonstrated experience in influencing and policy advocacy.
- Demonstrated commitment to global justice, womens rights, gender equality and social change, as well as intersectionality and feminist ways of working.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills (notably facilitation skills, mobilization and organizing skills, conflict resolution skills, etc.) and passion for connecting with people.
- Track record of organizing engaging online and in-person outreach initiatives, from logistics to content.
- Experience with key campaign tactics including grassroots activism, public education, creative stunts, coalition-building, lobbying, research, and strategic communications.
- Ability to coordinate and work with diverse groups of people based in multiple geographical locations.
- Proven capacity to work with customer relations management systems, digital advocacy campaigning, and design tools.
- Proven capacity to work in an organized and self-directed manner as well as demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively with other staff and volunteers.
- Demonstrated experience building and maintaining civil society alliances and networks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly an ability to communicate complex issues in plain language.
- Strong project manager, results-focused, meets deliverables and timelines.
- Strong computer skills in word processing, spreadsheet, electronic mail and database systems.
- Ability to travel in Canada and internationally.
- Ability to communicate in French and Spanish is an asset.
- Willingness to sign and abide by the Oxfam Code of Conduct.
- Demonstrated commitment to feminism, anti-racism, justice, equity, diversity and inclusion.
