The City of Brooks requires three (3) Recreation/Parks Maintenance Operators.

Job Details & Responsibilities:

This position involves winter work in Recreation and summer work in Parks. During the spring/summer months in the Parks Department, you will be responsible for performing the duties of a Parks Maintenance Operator, which include carrying out the day-to-day operation and maintenance of all parks, pathways, sports fields, cemeteries and any other related parks amenities under the departments area of responsibility. During the fall/winter months in the Recreation Department, you will be responsible for performing the duties of a Recreation Operator, which include operating machinery, equipment, and vehicles, ensuring patrons have a positive experience while in the facilities by communicating facility rules and expectations, assisting with patron requests as needed, and performing all aspects of both facility operations and maintenance including custodial duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • As the successful applicant, you must have completed the twelfth (12th) school grade or equivalent;
  • Supplemented by a minimum of one (1) to six (6) months experience in maintenance operations;
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License with a clean drivers abstract;
  • Standard First Aid and CPR preferred;
  • Education or experience in horticulture preferred;
  • Arena Operator Level 1 Certification preferred;
  • Zamboni Ice Maintenance experience preferred.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • The City of Brooks offers a competitive salary and benefits package, with this position falling within the scope of the Collective Agreement between the City of Brooks and the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 1032.
  • The 2023 salary range for this position is $ 26.17 - $ 28.62per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. This is a full-time position with shift, weekend, and overtime work hours. The Collective Agreement, including wages, can be found online at www.brooks.ca.
  • Additionally, you will receive a free family membership to the JBS Canada Centre during your term of employment
