Caradoc Townsend Mutual Insurance Company (CTM) is seeking an energetic individual with integrity, drive, and aptitude to join our team as an Intermediate Accountant - Contract to cover a 12 month leave in our Kilworth or Waterford offices. We're in search of an Intermediate Accountant - Contractto play a crucial role in our finance team, focusing on ensuring accuracy and efficiency across financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and treasury management. Responsibilities include month-end closings, financial analysis, supporting audit processes, and improving financial systems. The ideal candidate will independently manage specific financial operations and contribute to projects enhancing our financial strategy and operations. What you will do:

  • Prepare month-end working papers and assist in generating associated monthly financial reports, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Support the Controller with quarterly regulatory reporting and participate in the year-end audit process. This includes preparing necessary documentation and assisting with auditors' inquiries.
  • Contribute to ongoing financial projects, working collaboratively with the finance team to achieve project objectives and deliver on time.
  • Involve in the accounts payable process, ensuring that payments are processed accurately and efficiently, and maintaining up-to-date records.
  • Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure that all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled in the financial system.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, perform variance analysis, and contribute to the development of insights that will guide managerial decisions and financial strategy.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards, including IFRS, and participate in initiatives aimed at improving financial processes and systems.
  • Work closely with the finance team and other departments to support financial operations across the organization, ensuring a collaborative approach to achieving business goals.
  • Engage in continuous learning and professional development activities, staying updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in finance and accounting.
  • Oversee specific financial and treasury processes independently, ensuring their efficient and accurate execution, while also playing a crucial role in broader finance projects by providing expertise and support to enhance financial strategies and operations.
  • Act as a key contributor in both finance and treasury functions, managing responsibilities such as cash flow forecasting, liquidity management, and ensuring compliance with financial policies.
  • Lead in the creation of annual budgets and financial forecasts by analyzing historical data to inform strategic planning.
  • Enhance risk management by developing and accessing internal controls to protect company assets and improve efficiency.
  • Deliver clear financial reports to stakeholders, interpreting data to highlight trends and provide insights for strategic decisions.
  • Carry out additional accounting tasks as assigned, which may include but are not limited to journal entries, ledger maintenance, and financial analysis.

What you will need:

  • Bachelors Degree or Diploma in Accounting or Business Administration. Preference will be given to candidates that are working towards a CPA designation.
  • 3 years recent experience in a related accounting position
  • Strong financial acumen and analytical agility. Experience with IFRS is an asset.
  • Detail oriented, organized, and able to meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and financial reporting software is preferred.
  • Self-motivated with prioritization, time management and project management skills
  • Highly effective written and interpersonal communication skills; the ability to build a positive, team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated aptitude in dealing with private and confidential information.

This is a hybrid position with the opportunity to work both remotely and from the office.
