Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing Business Development team across Canada and the US, with a focus on aligning the team's efforts with overall sales goals. Cultivate a culture of excellence, collaboration, and accountability as the team scales.
- Sales Operations: Design, implement, and continuously optimize sales processes, systems, and tools to streamline operations and improve both efficiency and effectiveness. Ensure accurate forecasting, reporting, and sales analytics for informed decision-making.
- Revenue Generation: Take ownership of sales performance in targeted markets, driving both new customer acquisition and retention to consistently meet or exceed revenue goals. Focus on expanding market share in key verticals.
- Coaching and Training: Serve as a mentor and coach for the sales team, delivering training sessions aimed at enhancing skills, product knowledge, and overall performance. Collaborate cross-functionally to provide training for other teams as needed.
- Strategic Sales Execution: Drive the execution of sales strategies to enter new markets and expand in existing ones. Continuously assess market conditions and adapt strategies to achieve growth.
- Customer Relationships: Develop and maintain strong, lasting relationships with key customers, industry stakeholders, and channel partners. Act as a trusted advisor to ensure customer satisfaction and long-term partnership success.
- Market Positioning: Position Rodan as a market leader in energy management services. Leverage channel partnerships, speaking engagements, public relations, industry events, and strategic market analysis to enhance brand visibility and discover new growth opportunities.
- Operational Efficiency: Design and implement scalable processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to improve the operational efficiency of the Business Development team. Ensure smooth day-to-day operations and enable high levels of productivity.
- Strategic Account Acquisition: Develop and lead sales strategies focused on acquiring strategic accounts, particularly through tailored Distributed Energy Resource (DER) offerings. Build relationships with high-value prospects and drive them through the sales pipeline.
- Customer Lifecycle Management: Oversee the entire sales process, from lead generation through to post-sale activities. Ensure seamless transitions to customer success teams and drive ongoing customer satisfaction, retention, and recurring revenue generation.
- KPI & Performance Management: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the performance of the Business Development team. Use data-driven insights to guide team performance, coaching, and overall sales strategy.
- Successful completion of a college/university program (engineering or technical field an asset).
- Strong preference for related industry experience: working in an energy management solution or related field with a focus on large C&I power users, demand response, distributed energy resources and grid-edge technologies.
- Minimum 5-years experience in Manager/Director role accountable team results.
- Minimum 5-years previous experience in a BD role, carrying a quota
- Experience selling into the US and Canada is preferred
- Demonstrated track record of building high performance teams through hiring selection, coaching and development and consistent team target attainment.
- Strong communication, lead generation, negotiation, presentation, and closing skills.
- Self-motivated, coachable and curious.
- Comfortable promoting new energy services offering to customers (training will be provided).
- Proficiency with MS 365 Suite (Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, etc.), Salesforce and other related business applications.
- A valid driver's license.
- Travel within North America as required.
