Tridon Communications is currently seeking a Document Controller, Local to Fort McMurry to fill a 1 year contract on site.
Job Summary:
The Document Controller will be responsible for managing the collection, classification, retrieval, and retention of company records, documents, and information. This role also includes ensuring proper organization, storage, and access to both physical and digital documents across departments. The position will involve overseeing document management processes, updating records, and collaborating with project managers and department heads.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Collect, scan, and upload documents according to established procedures.
- Ensure that technical documents (e.g., reports, drawings, blueprints) are accurately registered in the document management system.
- Use SmartSolve Document Management for daily operations and quality control.
- Notify personnel of document updates and assist with access methods.
- Maintain document inventories and classification system indexes.
- Ensure secure storage of documents and maintain access lists for classified records.
- Conduct audits to confirm the accuracy of stored documents.
- Support telecom cable plant data management by entering and verifying data from Engineering Work Packages.
- Perform field audits to ensure the accuracy of records.
- Collaborate with department heads, project managers, and clients to ensure smooth document flow.
Required Experience:
- 2+ years of experience in document management, archive management, or records management.
- Years of relevant work experience will also be considered
- Experience in telecom cable plant data management or similar fields is an asset.
- Familiarity with document management systems (e.g., SmartSolve, Hexagon G/Technology) is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Must Haves:
- Diploma in Business Management, Administration, or related field.
- AutoCAD experience and ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics is preferred.
- Experience with Asset Data Life Cycle Program (ADLP) or Enterprise Badge is an asset.
- BICSI telecom cable plant courses or certifications are an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work safely in hazardous environments, as needed.
