Kitter (General Labour)
The Kitter plays a key role in the fabrication process by gathering, organizing, and preparing materials for shop operations. This includes interpreting Bills of Material (BOMs), marking and sorting parts, assisting with loading and unloading materials, and supporting fabrication stations to ensure smooth workflow and efficiency.
Reporting to: Shop Foreman
Key Responsibilities:
Interpret Bill of Material (BOM) to identify part needs.
Mark parts with job numbers and keep them organized.
Gather plate and angle parts for fitters.
Assist with tasks and errands as directed by shop foreman.
Provide support to fabrication stations.
Help with loading and unloading materials.
Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for themselves and others.
Identify opportunities for process improvements to optimize production.
Other duties as requested by shop foreman or department manager.
Qualifications
Experience in a similar role within manufacturing, construction, or industrial settings is an asset but is not required.
Basic knowledge of shop tools (e.g., measuring tape) and equipment is an asset.
Ability to read, write and understand numbers to learn the internal labeling processes.
Committed to safety standards and maintaining a clean workspace.
Punctual and reliable.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Works well in a team environment.
Possess strong communication skills.
Good time management abilities.
Successful candidate must be able to stand at work for long periods of time and be physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs when necessary.
