Your role:
As a UX Design Manager at Global Relay, you will lead a team of UX designers and help shape the user experience across our enterprise applications. This role offers a unique opportunity to support and mentor designers while contributing to critical projects as needed. You will be a strategic partner to product teams, ensuring that UX best practices are followed, research is leveraged effectively, and design decisions align with business objectives.
Your responsibilities:
- Manage and mentor UX designers, supporting their growth and ensuring their project success.
- Assess workload and distribute responsibilities based on product strategy priorities.
- Act as a key stakeholder in the design process, signing off on designs for your product area when needed.
- Facilitate smooth collaboration between UX Researchers, UX Designers, and UI Designers.
- Manage conflicts and guide junior and intermediate designers.
- Step in as a hands-on contributor when necessary, leading projects during peak times or absences.
- Guide UX designers on methodology selection, project planning, and stakeholder engagement.
- Help designers facilitate workshops, design presentations, and stakeholder reviews.
- Advocate for UX best practices and ensure high design standards across the team.
- Develop a deep understanding of our customers' needs and industry trends.
- Be a subject matter expert for your product area, contributing to product vision and strategy.
- Promote UX research, UX debt management, and post-release evaluation in the product roadmap.
- Identify and implement UX process improvements and collaboration opportunities.
- Ensure designers are involved at the right stages of product development.
- Provide product knowledge transfer and mentorship, including product demos for new hires.
- Maintain a UX work backlog aligned with product objectives.
- Advocate for User-Centered Design (UCD) and Global Relay's Design System.
- Support and improve the adoption of the Design System in your product area.
- Contribute to increasing Global Relay's design maturity by owning strategic UX initiatives.
- Stay updated on industry trends, methodologies, and tools, sharing insights with the team.
- Lead recruitment efforts, including resume screening and interviewing.
- Handle HR-related tasks such as performance reviews, career development, and team-building activities.
- Foster a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the UX team.
About you:
- 6+ years of experience in UX design, with at least 2 years in a management or leadership role.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating a user-centered approach, problem-solving skills, and impact on business goals.
- Experience mentoring and managing designers, providing both project and career guidance.
- Deep understanding of user research, UX best practices, and enterprise software design.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams in an agile product development environment.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to advocate for UX at all levels.
- Strong strategic mindset, capable of influencing product vision and roadmap decisions.
- Familiarity with design systems and their implementation in large organizations.
- Experience working in SaaS or enterprise software is a plus.
- Passion for fostering a strong UX culture and continuously improving team processes.
Compensation:
Global Relay advertises the pay range for this role in compliance with British Columbia's pay transparency laws. Individual pay rates are determined by evaluating factors such as expertise, skills, education, and professional background.
The range below reflects the expected annual base salary, which is only one element of our comprehensive total rewards package designed to reflect our company pay philosophy, culture and values. We aim to foster an inspiring work environment and support employees' work-life rhythms. We provide a comprehensive extended health benefits program, including virtual healthcare and a wellness allowance. Employees also receive annual allotted vacation days, which increase based on tenure. British Columbia - Base Salary Range:$110,000—$130,000 CADWhat you can expect:
