Job Description

We are currently seeking a qualified Risk Specialist to join our Infrastructure team, based out of Toronto. The Risk Specialist will be responsible for execution and administration of Risk Analysis in support of the Delivery Partners for the Metrolinx Ontario Line project. The Ontario Line is a brand-new metro line serving some of Toronto's busiest districts and brings much needed additional connectivity and capacity to the city's public transport network. The project scope includes the design, build, operation and maintenance of all infrastructure and rail systems associated with 15 stations and over 15 km of new underground, surface, and elevated track. Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Administrator of all the risk and issues register in Sword ARM.
  • Support risk owners to record risks/issues and related details in ARM.
  • Organize risk and issues review meetings and support the facilitation of risk identification, assessment and treatment workshops as requested.
  • Agree and maintain reporting dates and cut off dates for receiving information, to report consistent data set. Ensure that the data is consistent to the cut off dates.
  • Communicate information as per the procedures and work instructions.
  • Record and monitor upcoming issues/critical items/risks in the weekly meetings.
  • Review contractors reports for any new issues/critical items/risks and update.
  • Interact with all the disciplines of the project for the risks in their areas.
  • Mitigate duplication in terms of titles and intent for risks, issues, early warnings, critical items.
  • Guide and support the risk owners in development of the risk mitigation plan and support them to update actions continuously. Offer active contribution to monitor the remedy plan.
  • Routine assessments of the risks to document where actions did not get fully executed.
  • Fill-in role in the absence of other analysts for other than the designated contract.
  • Maintain up-to-date information in reports, and dashboards, cross check contents with to highlight inconsistencies to the appropriate teams, follow-up with the teams for resolutions, feed the relevant information to other areas of work break down structure.
  • Support in capturing the required information for performing QCRA/QSRA as established in the OL Risk Management Plan.
  • Engage with Contractor risk counterpart, if needed, to ensure risk management activities are aligned with OL project requirements and capturing of risks transferred from PCo (Project Company) to the Contracting Authority.
Qualifications
  • Relevant experience of 7 to 10 years with a university degree in engineering, construction, or business. Experience in projects and contracting industry is necessary. Preference will be given to candidates with risk management experience of 4+ years.
  • Software: Working knowledge of Sward ARM or similar risk management software. Advanced level knowledge of MS Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and particularly EXCEL. Preference will be given to candidates having ability to modify reports with working knowledge of Microsoft SQL, Microsoft Power Apps, and Microsoft Forms.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to work autonomously within the Project role and interface with a wide cross section of project personnel.
  • Ability to explain foundational risk management concepts clearly and succinctly.
  • Ability to perform under stress and meet tight deadlines.
  • Works in a fast-paced project environment with ability to respond to changing priorities from different levels of the organization.
