Now Hiring: Senior Advisor, Economic Growth (#25-44)
Parkland County has an opportunity for a permanent, full-time Senior Advisor, Economic Growth position in the Growth & Strategy Department. Reporting to the Manager, Economic Growth, the Senior Advisor plays a pivotal and strategic role in business attraction, growth and retention. The Senior Advisor provides consulting and advisory services to internal business units and external parties to execute the County's economic growth and diversification goals. The position contributes to department business planning, and supports the integration of emerging economic considerations into organizational strategic planning activities. To advance the County's economic growth priorities, the Senior Advisor operates with a customer-centric approach and acts as a lead conduit to key regional external parties. This is achieved by identifying opportunities and risks, navigating regulatory processes, leading investment attraction efforts, supporting business retention activities and fostering collaboration across County departments. The Senior Advisor leads policy enhancements, public relations activities and investment attraction marketing strategy. The Senior Advisor also provides project management expertise and assists other departments in aligning service delivery to foster a prosperous and dynamic business environment. Additionally, the Senior Advisor guides and mentors team members in executing business development, business retention and expansion initiatives, business support, tourism, and project-related activities.
The ideal candidate for this position will have the following:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Economic Development, Planning, or related discipline.
- Certification in municipal leadership or strategic planning would be considered an asset.
- Interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), negotiation and facilitation skills with the ability to work within tight timelines and an often steady workload.
- Effective relationship building with groups with different expertise such as internal departments, industry, senior management, the public and Council.
- Strong working knowledge of real estate development, the municipal government process, site selection and growth requirements for private sector businesses and investors.
- Experience mentoring and guiding team members and providing direct leadership of projects.
- Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and SharePoint, and the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new programs.
- Possession of a valid class 5 driver's license and satisfactory driving record is required.
A starting annual salary of $99,500 to $111,900, based on a 35-hour work week and option to join the Earned Day Off Program.
