- The general scope of work for the Database Administrator involves:
- Assisting with the transformation/cleaning of data from a legacy database into a new data warehouse
- Determine appropriate data structure for remaining relevant legacy data
- Develop mapping and transformation rules to align the two databases
- Create data dictionary for new data
- Develop connections with multiple other government databases and develop system to maintain the connection so that it does not go out of date
- Supporting Power BI visualization and report building
- Develop and test any automated data validation tools deemed necessary

Experience and Skill Set Requirements
Database Skills - 70%
- Experience with one or more database technologies
- Proficiency with SQL and experience writing SQL scripts
- Experience designing data architecture for new databases
- Experience in monitoring and enforcing database rules
- Experience cleaning, transforming and joining data
- Experience is creating and applying data standards
- Experience with dimensional data models
- Subject matter expert in database design of data warehouse or data marts.
Communication Skills - 25%
- Experience in developing documentation on data standardization and requirements
- Demonstrated consulting and relationship management skills, with proven ability to elicit requirements, develop/consult on options and solutions, and provide effective guidance
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; with both technical and non-technical audiences
- A demonstrated team player with a track record for meeting deadlines
OPS Experience - 5%
- Previous public sector experience in an organization of equivalent size and complexity to the Ontario Public Service.
