ABOUT THE ROLE:

Underwriting Support and Development Analyst works within the Underwriting group to support the ongoing development of Underwriters, Mortgage Officers, Guidelines and Knowledge Base of Procedures and Job Aids. This position ensures Underwriting remains compliant with all aspects of Home Trust Companys credit policies, guidelines, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements. Through ad-hoc based file reviews and data points, the incumbent will identify trends and will work closely with other QC team members, management, lines of business, Compliance and Enterprise Risk Management to implement recommendations and provide input into on-going guideline and procedure development, maintenance and reporting. The analyst will also lead onboarding and ongoing coaching sessions with identified Underwriting team members to ensure underwriting skillsets are in line to meet the Companys policies, guidelines and procedures

In addition:

  • Acts as the Subject Matter Expert in Developing, maintaining, and delivering the contents applicable to the development of the Underwriting team roles
  • Develops, maintains and delivers new hire onboarding and ongoing coaching sessions
  • Identifies department coaching needs through trend analysis of Loan Review, internal ad hoc reviews and from external team members and suggests improvements to support the onboarding and ongoing development program
  • Supports department communication by sending prepared communications to specific individuals
  • Publish monthly newsletter to UW team on key areas of learning
  • Maintain detailed tracking of activities completed
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of monthly reporting on team activities, SLAs and KPIs
  • Lending Guideline, Procedures and job aid review and administration
  • Report to management on observed trends and/or concerns, providing recommendations and/or action
  • Review, analyze and verify mortgage files for completeness, accuracy, suitability and risk to ensure compliance with all aspects of Home Trust Companys underwriting policies, procedures and guidelines per delegated authority matrices
  • Complete ad hoc file reviews to support department and business needs as required
  • Complete reviews and analysis in support of HTCs loan sale programs
  • Identify trends and provide input into strategies and learning opportunities to improve file and credit quality
  • Determine and recommend practices necessary to establish sound credit risk management and compliance

WHAT WE REQUIRE:

  • Authorized to work in Canada
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma, preferably in business management, finance, or related field (university an asset)Excellent written / verbal communication and professional maturity to influence at all levels
  • Excellent organizational, time-management, analysis and attention to detail
  • 3+ years related experience in financial services lending and credit risk with residential and mortgage lending
  • Collaborates with other members of formal and informal teams in the pursuit of common missions, vision, values and goal
  • Communicates and works with team members and gathers feedback on different viewpoints.
  • Sound knowledge of regulatory environment within financial services industry
  • Proven expertise in credit adjudication
