Job Description

This senior level 8 month contract position is responsible for the development of creative print and digital design projects including: advertisements, store signage and promotional materials to ensure our brand guidelines are followed. Working closely with the Manager - Art Direction & Design, this role will collaborate with the team of designers in order to execute the Farm Boy vision throughout all departments to elevate the customer experience. The performance of the duties must ensure a quality service approach to all employees, customers and suppliers. All responsibilities must be performed in a manner consistent with
the Farm Boy Way.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Executes all print and digital creative marketing initiatives from conceptualization, to design,
    and final production.
  • Develop design concepts and support the production of various projects that are being assigned
    from the Manager - Art Direction & Design and Senior Graphic Designers.
  • Collaborate and effectively communicate project stages with various internal stakeholders.
  • Responsible for maintaining organized and accurate file management.
  • Promote company policies and procedures, foster high morale, teamwork, and productivity through personal leadership.
  • Develop visual concepts, layouts, and designs for print and digital media, including: web assets, social media, brochures, presentations, signage, etc.
  • Collaborate with designers, copywriters, and stakeholders to ensure designs meet project requirements and brand guidelines.
  • May be required to undertake other related duties on a periodic basis.
Qualifications
  • Typically requires completion of a post-secondary program with an emphasis in Graphic Design, plus at least 5 years of experience in a supporting design role or previous advertising/marketing experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • The ability to execute projects to full completion with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient with full Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign, Creative Cloud; experience with SketchUp, Asana, motion, video, considered an asset.
  • A solid understanding of design principles, typography, colour theory, and layout.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and a passion for producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel to stores in the Ottawa area.

Work & Sensory Environment:

  • Providing service to several people or departments, working under many simultaneous deadlines.
  • Performing delivery and low-level installation of sign materials in Ottawa stores may be possible; task to be performed with other Marketing Team persons.
  • Possible exposure to eye strain from computer terminals.
  • Exposure to distractions caused by open office noise and frequent interruptions.
