The Certified Engineering Technologist, Electrical position is a full-time, 12-month contract role, which has the possibility of becoming a fulltime permanent role. This position is based at our Distribution Centre Warehouse located at 950 Southgate Dr, Guelph, ON N1L 1S7.
Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm.

Key Accountabilities:
- Contribute to the design and improvement of various types of mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Co-ordinate project designs with internal partners, including, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and IT network related components.
- Program, test and debug automated systems, ASRS robotic stacker cranes, safety systems, Proportional-Integral-Derivative control (PID), loop control for heating & cooling applications, and machine controls.
- Design electrical circuits and panels in AutoCAD Electrical for automated systems and building electrical.
- Test and troubleshoot electrical and electronic equipment and components, including but not limited to motor control, photo eyes, limit switches, laser measurement devices.
- Test and install network devices using Ethernet IP or serial communication in addition to installing network cables to support IT functions.
- Specify, size and select electrical components for complete control system (motion, PLC, sensors, cable, panel devices, etc.).
- Create electrical Bill of Material (BOM) and release items to be ordered.
- Communicate to internal and external departments including, suppliers and internal stakeholders, as required.
- Work directly with suppliers for component specifications/selection.
- Work directly with mechanical designers and the maintenance department to ensure proper design and selection of components.
- Provide Controls and PLC support for the ammonia refrigeration and building controls system.
- Provide Controls, Automation, PLC support for the ASRS system and all process conveyors.
- Support operator and maintenance training programs.
- Ability to work overtime (after hours and weekends) to support the Maintenance team and Business.
- Occasional travel with the ability to travel to other Canadian sites as needed (approximately 5% of working hours).
- Follow all Health & Safety policies while maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
- Ability to work independently and set priorities.
- Other role related duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
- Completion of an Electrical Engineering Technology diploma and/or equivalent computer electronic program.
- 2-3 years' experience programming Allen-Bradley PLC/HMI, using FactoryTalk View, Studio5000 and Wonderware.
- Registration as a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) is considered a strong asset.
- Electrician trade certification 442A or 309A is considered a strong asset.
- Experience in Mechanical or Electrical engineering is considered an asset.
- Experience with Omron, Schneider and Siemens PLC is considered an asset.
- Formal and working knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Knowledge of industry standards for design and documentation.
- Experienced with machine safety controls and Electrical codes.
- Experience with variable frequency drive (VFD)and Soft Start motor control.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
