POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Security is responsible for managing casino security activities to ensure that operations adhere to the provincial, federal and municipal laws and in compliance with our regulator(s). They will ensure that guests are not engaged in illegal activities and all operations are conducted in accordance with all applicable policies and regulations. They are accountable for providing strategic direction, guidance, support, and oversight to ensure the successful operation and continuous progress of the security department. This position will ensure that all potential violations of regulations are investigated, and corrective actions taken to ensure the ongoing safety and security of all guests, team members, as well as the safeguarding of company assets. They will also support the culture, mission, vision, values and standard operating procedures.
Responsibilities
- Possess strong leadership skills that are vital to managing people and delivering exceptional customer service as the director is responsible for the overall management of the security department, providing leadership and direction in a shift work environment.
- Leads the security team in compliance with AGCO / OLG regulations and all applicable laws, policies and procedures. Ensures business integrity and supports HR with ensuring employee honesty and integrity.
- Trains, motivates and leads by example to foster a learning environment that focuses on the development and retention of staff
- Develops performance objectives and delivers performance evaluation for direct reports.
- Leads and implements all new security department initiatives.
- Actively participates in finding and hiring top talent, as well as supports their learning and development through coaching and counselling. Recognizes and rewards best performers.
- Plans, directs, and implements the security strategic plan.
- Prepares and monitors budgets including equipment maintenance, labour and capital expense plans; submits variance reports.
- Maintains awareness of gaming operations at all times and complies with security policies and procedures in order to secure company assets. Liaises with regulatory bodies on policy issues investigations, etc.
- Liaises with third party security and personal protection teams for dignitaries, entertainers and others prior to, during, and post special events.
- Provides leadership, direction, and mentoring to the security department; develops performance objectives and delivers performance evaluations for direct reports.
- Leads or facilitates meetings to discuss audit findings and consulting services with top levels of management.
- Develops and maintains an “Observe and Report” systems.
- Development of Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Recovery Plans and Training.
- Ensures compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations.
- Responsible for overseeing accidents/near miss investigations property inspections or walkthroughs, job hazard-analysis, and evaluations of work methods for security compliance.
- Possess and maintains excellent working knowledge of all casino games, accounting, internal control procedures
- Responsible for the physical custody, inventory, and control of sensitive keys, and the receiving, replacement, and destruction of broken and damaged keys.
- Maintains Standard Operating Procedures documents and training for all department.
- Maintain relationships with all First Responding teams; Municipal, Provincial and Federal.
- Willing to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays and overnights as needed,

Qualifications
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- Minimum ten years combined management experience in Security, investigatory and gaming and/or related field.
- Post Secondary education in criminology or suitable combination of education and experience.
- The ability to obtain registration as a Category 1 Gaming Assistant with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.
- Superior knowledge of the applicable federal, provincial laws related to gaming.
- Experience in investigation and interview techniques
- Minimum of 10 years gaming experience required.

Working Conditions:
- Duties and responsibilities are typically performed in a highly regulated and controlled environment, but there will be times where you will need to be on the Casino Floor to complete job functions as outlined or pass through this area. On the Casino Floor, you may be exposed to casino-related environmental factors including, but not limited to, excessive noise.
