The Position
The Business Development Representative (BDR) will drive awareness of FVCL among optometrists and GP physicians, growth in new patient referrals, and overall engagement with all stakeholders. Reporting to the General Manager, you will be an integral part of our team, responsible for guiding the marketing team, managing existing physician contacts, developing relationships with new physicians, and driving increased volumes at FVCL.
Responsibilities
As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for the following accountabilities:
Manage existing key optometrist and physician accounts
Build excellent relationships with existing and new physicians
Develop and execute your business development plan to meet and exceed targets and schedules
Establish public and referring doctor awareness of the services and procedures performed by our Ophthalmologists
Explore new opportunities in the market and discuss program/service development options with key internal stakeholders
Lead the preparation of new proposals and business cases in collaboration with operations and marketing
Positively impact and influence others and establish credibility while building strong business relationships (internal and external) with key physicians, proactively address any concerns and identify opportunities for growth
Analyze reports for new patient referral results and identify key insights to enable proper decision making
Provide reports on progress and activities with existing physicians and business development opportunities
Ensure internal stakeholders are aligned with resource requirements for new business opportunities
Develop solid and trusting relationships with existing and new key physicians
Liaise with internal/external stakeholders to ensure customer excellence
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following skills and attributes:
At least 3 to 5 years experience in a business development role, ideally within the healthcare industry, pharmaceutical, and/or a service-based organization
A proven track record of success in sales, including evidence of metrics-based sales activities
Demonstrated experience in Key Account Management
Experience in Ophthalmology and Optometry sectors is a definite asset
Exceptional presentations skills and ability to build rapport with key leadership level stakeholders
A high level of urgency and well-developed persuasive sales techniques
Strong organizational and time management skills
The ability to work with internal stakeholders to develop team-based sales and marketing strategies
Preference and desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Must be comfortable with travel throughout Greater Vancouver and the Fraser Valley
