About the opportunity

The Manager, National Tax Office is a key role supporting tax professionals across the Baker Tilly Canada network on nationwide tax advisory initiatives. This position reports to the National Tax team and offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development and communication of tax expertise.

In this role you will:

  • Act as a pivotal contributor to the National Tax Office, executing on our new forward-thinking tax strategies that align with the vision of Baker Tilly Canadas network.
  • Monitor legislative development to stay ahead of evolving tax legislation and administration
  • Develop policies and provide technical assistance, empowering the Baker Tilly Canada network to navigate the complex tax environments.
  • Deliver expert insights through active participation in consultations and speaking engagements, the preparation of technical memos and presentation materials to communicate actionable tax insights, resources and guidance across the network.
  • Support the development of technical tax planning strategies, advisory opportunities and technical resources for the Baker Tilly Canadas network.
  • Collaborate with the Learning & Development committee to design, develop and deliver dynamic tax training materials that inspire and empower professionals across the network.
  • Leverage advanced technology, automation tools and AI resources to modernize tax initiatives ensuring they are future-ready for the ever-evolving landscape.
  • Strengthen the networks risk management framework and practices by creating standardized templates, tools and processes to promote consistency and mitigate risks.

What we're looking for:

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • Must have a CPA designation and completed of the CPA In-Depth Tax program or a Masters of Tax degree.
  • A minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience working predominantly in tax.
  • Excellent technical and practical knowledge of the Canadian tax system, demonstrating analytical abilities, understanding, and insight for both compliance and planning.
  • Commitment to staying updated on evolving legislation and industry trends.
  • Significant practical experience with domestic and owner managed business in Canada.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a strong focus on collaboration and communication, including oral and written skills, consensus building, excellent judgment, and decision-making.
  • Passion for education, training, and crafting innovative educational content to inspire and empower the network. Experience is a differentiator.
  • Ability to leverage advanced technology skills to drive innovation and efficiency.
  • Willingness to adapt to new technological advancements and a strong self-motivation to independently learn and adapt to emerging tools and systems.
  • Bilingualism in French and English would be an asset.
