Job DescriptionBiomedical Engineering Department is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated student to join our team for the summer. As a biomedical engineering student working in a hospital setting, your tasks will typically be more supportive and learning-focused. You'll assist experienced biomedical engineering technologists, gain hands-on experience with medical equipment, and help with documentation and compliance, support various departments, and contribute to the overall patient and staff experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in inspecting, testing, calibrating, and repairing medical devices like infusion pumps and bladder scanners.
- Work alongside biomedical technologists and collaborate with healthcare providers and Vendors.
- Use CMMS to update asset information, analyze data on equipment performance and failure rates.
- Assist with data entry, report preparation, and document organization.
- Support staff with project coordination, research, and analysis.
- Provide administrative and clerical support.
- Assist with inventory management, ordering supplies, and restocking.
- Engage in special projects or research assignments as needed.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and health & safety regulations.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Must be a current student enrolled a Biomedical Engineering program in a post-secondary institution and returning in September to full-time studies
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) is an asset
- Must be reliable, punctual, and adaptable to different tasks
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
Additional Information
Site: Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, with travel to other sites as needed (Milton & Georgetown)
Status: Temporary Full-time (Approx. 3 months)
Hours: Monday to Friday; Days 7.5 hour shifts (Hours are subject to change based on operational requirements)
Salary: $20.710 per hour
