Role Summary

We are seeking a Senior Manager, Operational Accounting & Internal Audit. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in margin reporting and analysis, case costing, financial audit of locations, financial close cycle improvements, and financial system maintenance. This position requires a detail-oriented and strategic thinker who can lead a team of operational accountants to ensure the financial integrity and operational efficiency of our locations.

This role reports to Senior Director, Finance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Close Cycle: Work with operating sites to find efficiencies in the financial close cycle, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting at all locations within the Clearpoint network
  • Margin Reporting and Analysis: Develop and oversee the process for margin reporting and analysis, providing insights to improve financial performance
  • Case Costing: Implement and monitor case costing methodologies to accurately capture and allocate costs and to evaluate the efficiency of locations
  • Financial Audit of Locations: Conduct thorough financial audits of locations to ensure compliance with internal and external reporting standards; identify and improve on process gaps at each location
  • Standardization of reporting: Develop and ensure consistent accounting and reporting practices across all locations; including development of consistent KPIs and reporting
  • Process mapping: Document in detail key processes related to accounting and reporting process, along with key financial controls
  • Financial System Maintenance: Oversee the troubleshooting, maintenance and improvement of financial system (Sage Intacct) to support accurate and efficient financial operations
  • Partner with operations: Develop process solutions to key changes to business, ensuring coordination with and buy-in from regional operations directors across Canada
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop members of the finance team, fostering a collaborative and a dynamic, results-driven team environment
  • Other tasks as required
  • Occasional travel will be required to operating sites

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in operational accounting, with at least 3 years in a leadership role, preferably within the health care industry.
  • Strong knowledge of margin reporting, case costing, financial audits, financial close processes, and financial system maintenance.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams effectively.
  • Proficiency in financial software and systems, with advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a constantly evolving environment.
  • A keen eye for detail in preparing complex monthly reports and reviewing information from partners, ensuring accuracy of inputs
  • You have a solid understanding of financial metrics and P&L fundamentals, recognizing when there's enough analysis and discussion to take action.
  • You proactively create authentic relationships with other functions and senior management to discuss challenges and incorporate their perspective, creating trust and a mutually beneficial solution.
  • You can spot and seize opportunities while ensuring deadlines are met. You don't just stop there; you drive the solution to the end - even if it's outside your responsibilities.
  • Experience in working effectively with teams based across different geographies and time zones.
  • You facilitate and lead projects by collaborating cross-functionally.
