B&B Contracting Group is seeking a dedicated Health & Safety Managerto join our Health & Safety (H&S) Team.
The Health & Safety Manager at B&B Contracting Group is responsible for leading and continuously improving the companys health, safety, and injury management programs. They will ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations, the Workers Compensation Act, and other applicable provincial and federal safety standards while fostering a strong safety culture across all projects, job sites, and facilities. This role requires hands-on leadership, proactive risk management, and collaboration with internal teams and external regulatory bodies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain the companys corporate safety manual, policies, and procedures across all projects.
- Continuously refine and improve existing safety standards for field, office, and shop environments.
- Lead the companys Health & Safety and Injury Management Program, ensuring compliance with provincial and federal regulations.
- Oversee the Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC), including meeting facilitation, training, documentation, and compliance tracking.
- Act as the primary point of contact for WorkSafeBC officials and other regulatory representatives.
- Maintain compliance with the Certificate of Recognition (COR) program.
- Assist in maintaining the safety management system for streamlined reporting and analytics.
- Track employee training records and certifications, managing recertifications and compliance schedules.
- Oversee and manage the safety portion of the onboarding program for new employees.
- Partner with HR to track and manage safety-related infractions, ensuring corrective training is provided.
- Assist with project planning and risk assessments to identify job-specific hazards and PPE requirements.
- Conduct site visits, safety inspections, and audits to ensure compliance with policies and best practices.
- Oversee the support of injured workers through return-to-work programs, ensuring a smooth transition.
- Manage the internal PPE inventory, ensuring employees have access to the necessary safety equipment.
- Lead post-incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
- Prepare incident reports and safety documentation for both internal use and regulatory compliance.
- Manage the WorkSafeBC relationship, including WCB claim reporting, clearance letters, and regulatory filings.
- Ensure compliance with emergency preparedness programs (fire safety, evacuation, spill response, etc.)
Qualifications:
- 5+ years experience in a health & safety leadership role within construction, industrial, or infrastructure sectors.
- Strong experience in incident investigations, safety audits, and regulatory compliance.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and safety management software.
- Valid BC drivers license with a clean driving record.
- Certified CSO, NCSO, or equivalent safety certifications.
- Proven experience managing COR programs.
- Strong working knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations, the Workers Compensation Act, and federal OHS standards.
- Excellent leadership, conflict resolution, and team collaboration skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
