Responsibilities
- Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of platform developers and architects, ensuring alignment with the organization's goals and fostering a collaborative environment.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement the technical strategy for the platform, ensuring it meets current and future needs. This includes making decisions on architecture, tools, and technologies. Develop and drive platform/architecture roadmap in consultation with the team.
- Technical Leadership: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of platform-related projects, coordinating with other teams and stakeholders to ensure timely and successful outcomes.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure the platform is reliable, scalable, and performs well. This involves monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and implementing improvements.
- Stakeholder Communication: Act as a liaison between the platform engineering team and other departments, ensuring clear communication and understanding of platform capabilities and limitations.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest technological trends and integrate new tools and methodologies to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Problem Solving: Address and resolve technical issues that arise during the development process.
Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or equivalent experience.
- 15+ years of professional software development experience.
- Proven experience as a Technical Manager or similar role in platform development.
- Strong technical background with expertise in platform architecture, tools, and technologies.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to develop and implement strategic plans.
- Commitment to maintaining high-quality standards and continuous improvement.
- Experience in mentoring and supporting the professional growth of team members.
- Delivering value using Scrum and/or Kanban
- Familiarity with Kafka, Redux or Elm or related value-oriented design frameworks with unidirectional date-flow architecture.
- Experience with C++ in embedded systems is preferred
- Experience with Sonar and/or Naval systems an asset
