THE ROLE

This is a temporary, part-time weekend position, with shifts running Saturdays and Sundays from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

As a Yard Coordinator at a well-known third-party logistics company in Brantford, ON, youll play a key role in managing truck movements and overseeing yard operations. The role requires strong communication, attention to detail, and solid organizational skills to help ensure safe and efficient yard flow.

Youll be responsible for controlling access to the facility, assisting drivers and visitors, and managing trailer drops. Additionally, youll enter data into the Yard Management System (YMS), ensure trailers are properly fueled, and help maintain a safe and secure environment. Monitoring the yard for unusual conditions, reporting issues promptly, and completing all necessary paperwork with accuracy are also essential parts of the job.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Control access to the facility, allowing entry only to authorized personnel.
  • Assist drivers, employees, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Check incoming drivers into the yard and assign trailer drop locations as needed.
  • Facilitate communication between the office, warehouse, drivers, and shunters regarding truck movements.
  • Enter updates into the Yard Management System (YMS) for trailer drops.
  • Scan and email BOLs (Bills of Lading) and other relevant paperwork to Warehouse Admin staff for trailer drops.
  • Perform hourly yard checks to ensure trailers have adequate fuel levels and refrigeration units are functioning; report any issues.
  • Monitor for irregular or unusual conditions that may pose security or safety risks.
  • Observe departing personnel to prevent theft of company property and ensure proper documentation for authorized removals.
  • Investigate and prepare reports on accidents, incidents, or suspicious activities; maintain daily logs as required.
  • Warn individuals of rule infractions such as loitering, smoking, or unsafe driving.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 1-2 years of office administrative experience in a warehouse or logistics environment.
  • Proficient in both written and spoken English.
  • Strong ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Self-starter with a proactive attitude.
  • Exceptional computer skills, especially in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
