Job DescriptionThe HSE Lead coordinates day-to-day activities of the Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) function while providing professional expertise and guidance to operations. Reporting directly to the HSE Manager, this role emphasizes promoting safety, ensuring compliance, and supporting operational teams.
What would you be doing?
- Encourage employees and subcontractors to prioritize health, safety, and environment, aligned with company core values.
- Organize and/or assist with orientations, train management on proper administration.
- Participate in pre-job and client-requested meetings as required.
- Assist in hazard assessments, workplace inspections, and incident investigations to ensure compliance with legislation and protocols.
- Facilitate training on site, office, vehicle, PPE, and equipment inspections.
- Communicate and oversee corrective measures with managers.
- Relay missing site statistics or information to the relevant managers.
- Generate and distribute statistical summaries for clients, areas, and overall company metrics.
- Assist in posting monthly safety statistics; ensure data accuracy.
- Review and classify subcontractors' documentation, support risk mitigation and annual reviews.
- Provide guidance on legislation, practices, and procedures.
- Create and circulate safety alerts when required.
- Record attestations, inspections, and investigations in the Safety Action Log.
- Provide assistance with training for management, supervision, and workers.

- Minimum 5 years of experience as an NSCO in Oil and Energy.
- Education in occupational health and safety, environmental science, engineering, or related fields (specialized certifications and Journeyperson certificates are assets).
- Certification as a National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO).
