Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid- 3 days in office)

Must Have:
- 3+ years using Power BI software development, including using DAX queries and functions
- Microsoft Azure services such as Power Apps, Power Automate, Azure Database, Azure Analysis Services, Azure Synapse, Customer Voice, etc.
- SQL Server

- Ability to translate wireframes, low-fidelity and high-fidelity prototypes and business requirements into technical tasks towards functional reporting products or dashboards

Skills
Experience and Skill Set Requirements
Experience:
- Experience in Power BI software development and a number of years of practical experience (minimum 3+ years)
- Experience in another Microsoft BI stack e.g. SSAS, SSRS, SSIS
- Experience with scripting and programming
- Experience working with MS SQL Server on premise and within Azure Environment
- Experience with data-specific tasks including database management, SQL querying, data modelling, online analytical processing
- Experience with designing and mapping multi-dimensional data models, report models into business insights
- Experience building, testing and implementing complex reports, dashboards, and other objects
- Experience prototyping to develop business requirements for future implementation
- Ability to assist in the requirements gathering, analysis and subsequent developments
- Ability to conduct unit tests and assist in test preparations to ensure data integrity

Data Injection (25%)
- Demonstrated experience in Extract, Transform & Load software development and a number of years of practical experience (minimum 8+ years)

- Development of pre-defined and ad hoc reports and meet coding and accessibility (WCAG 2.0) requirements
Design Documentation and Analysis Skills (25%)
- Demonstrated experience in creating data documentation about algorithms, parameters, models using standard approaches e.g. Functional Design Documents (FDD) & Detailed Design Documents (DDD).
- Experience in Fit-Gap analysis, system use case reviews, requirements reviews, coding exercises, and reviews
- Experience in the development and maintaining a plan to address contract deliverables, through the identification of significant milestones and expected results with weekly status reporting.
- Work with the Client, Designer(s) & Developer(s) assigned to refine/confirm Business Requirements
- Analyze and document solution complexity and interdependencies by function / track for purpose of effort and cost estimation.
- Conduct research and prototyping of new business intelligence and analytics capabilities to support OPS business requirements

Database and Cloud Related (20%)

Knowledge Transfer (5%)
- The Developer must have previous work experience in conducting Knowledge Transfer and training sessions, ensuring the resources will receive the required knowledge to support the system. The resource must develop learning activities using review-watch-do methodology & demonstrate the ability to prepare and present.
- Development of documentation and materials as part of a review and knowledge transfer to other members
- Conduct Analysis, Design, Development and execution of specific learning activities that are aligned to Informatica work packages to staff
- Development of specific activities as part of a review, watch, do methodology and building block approach which, build on knowledge transfer and skills development from the previous stage with increasing levels of complexity, priority and responsibility and hands on experience
- Development and facilitation of classroom based, or virtual instructor demo led sessions for Developers
- Monitor identified milestones and submission of status reports to ensure Knowledge Transfer is fully completed
- Assist in the development of the pre-defined and ad hoc reports and meet the coding and accessibility (WCAG 2.0) requirements
Nice to Have:
- Some knowledge of user interface design and user interaction design is an asset but not required.
- Knowledge of Golden Gate is an asset but not required.
Description
- As part of the modernization of Social Assistance (SA) reporting platform (Legacy Cognos system), conduct a review of existing data model(s), report model(s) and redesign reporting products to be scalable and flexible to meet current program and Ministry needs for analytical and operational reporting.
- The SA program area has identified several data and reporting products to support their efforts to modernize service delivery and streamline partnerships with municipalities. As the SA program area continues to develop the operational model implementation and evaluation plans, BIPD needs to establish a modernized, flexible reporting model to support reporting products and requirements. This will result in development of net new data and reporting products, including products to support Service Planning, continuous monitoring of operational indicators and outcome data through the contract cycle. At the same time BIPD needs to address the development of products in the SA reporting backlog, and the rationalization of the current 160+ operational and analytical products in the reporting catalogue.
Purpose:
- To integrate, translate and oversee design of business-driven issues and priorities into enterprise-level business intelligence and data analytics solutions, using leading-edge data development approaches, with expertise/knowledge in data modelling, data architecture and infrastructure, data development (including dimensional modelling) as well as reporting (e.g. dashboard) development.
- To project-manage (e.g. design, deliver and implement) complex I&IT projects and various agile, business solutions required to meet cross-ministry business intelligence and data analytics activities and priority projects, including leading and supporting enterprise-wide projects that may involve work with other ministries, jurisdictions and the broader public sector.
- To work within the ministry's business analytics data warehouse environment, and support efforts to enhance and maintain infrastructure and applications, and providing technical expertise to the development and implementation of various I&IT solutions, while working with CYSSC, ITS and enterprise partners.
- To lead data development and maintenance activities that support strategic initiatives and priority projects across the ministry, including the preparation of ad-hoc statistical information and developing research/analytical data for reporting and analytics, while ensuring appropriate data quality, integrity, privacy and security.
