Description

At IMS, were on a mission to make driving safer and smarter through connected car and telematics innovation.
As a Platform Engineer, youll play a critical role in supporting that mission by collaborating with infrastructure, cloud, and engineering teams to build, maintain, and continuously enhance the availability, security, and performance of our production and test environments.
In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Ensure platform security, reliability, and performance across systems deployed in Canada, the UK, and AWS cloud environments
  • Contribute to key projects, platform optimizations, and ongoing maintenance initiatives
  • Help drive scalability, observability, and operational excellence

Requirements

We know you will have a wide skill set, but to thrive in this role we think you will need:

- Excellent customer-facing/customer service skills.
- Linux System Administration.
- A thorough understanding and commercial experience of AWS cloud technologies, e.g., EC2, ECS, Route53, S3, EFS.
- Scripting languages (at least proficient in two), e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell.
- Understanding of containerization, microservice architecture and cloud/software design patterns, GitLab or similar for CI/CD.
- Understanding and implementation of security hardening and vulnerability management.
- Understanding and management of identity providers and SSO configurations (Azure AD , Ory, Cognito, Firebase)

- Understanding of Site Reliability Engineering and key concepts

- Proficient in Infrastructure as Code pipeline deployments and pipeline version control within Terraform or CloudFormation.

- Various Database architecture experience, e.g., MySQL, MariaDB, Cassandra.

- Observability Systems, e.g., Nagios, New Relic

- Able to troubleshoot/work under pressure, meet deadlines.

- Previous experience in a cloud engineering role.
- AWS certified as SysOps Administrator / Solutions Architect / DevOps Engineer.
- Understanding of SEIM setup and administration, e.g. Arctic Wolf
- Database architectures, both relational and NoSQL, e.g., RDS, DynamoDB, Athena, Cassandra
- Experience with virtualisation platforms such as VMWare, Hyper V
- Storage and Data availability systems, e.g., HP Nimble, NetApp.
- Networking and Domain Communication, e.g., LDAP,DNS, VPN, Firewalls.

- Data Centre experience, e.g., cable management, HDD swap-out.

- Backup systems, e.g., Veeam, misc. cloud-based.

- Configuration Management, e.g., Ansible, Puppet.

- Thorough understanding of Infrastructure as Code principles and related tech such as Terraform or CloudFormation

- Enhanced experience of AWS cloud technologies, e.g., ECS, EC2, VPC, Lambda, CFS. Ideally AWS certified.

- Observability Systems, e.g., New Relic, CloudWatch, SquadCast

- ITIL Qualified or awareness of the framework.
Bonus Qualifications:

- Experience with Linux system administration and troubleshooting.

- Basic knowledge of AWS cloud technologies such as EC2, S3, RDS, and ECS.

- Exposure to databases such as MySQL, MariaDB, or Cassandra.

- Understanding of monitoring tools (New Relic, CloudWatch, Nagios).

- Awareness of ITIL frameworks and structured service operations.

- NISC2 or similar security qualifications or knowledge
