Role
Reporting to the Regional Director, the role of the Junior Project Estimator is to assist in the preparation of detailed cost estimates for various electrical projects, focusing on high-voltage transmission and distribution systems. You'll collaborate with experienced professionals to develop thorough proposals that comply with project specifications and organizational standards. This position is a fantastic opportunity for recent graduates or early-career professionals looking to grow their expertise in the field of project estimation within the electrical utility industry.
Responsibilities
- Prepare comprehensive cost estimates for electric transmission, distribution, substation, generation, and industrial projects.
- Ensure proposals are completed accurately and in compliance with RFP requirements.
- Assist in the creation of Environmental Plans for projects.
- Collaborate with project teams to understand and track the basis of cost estimates throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support the preparation and submission of change orders as necessary.
- Engage in post-project review meetings to evaluate performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Conduct research and generate reports to support the estimating team's efforts.
Requirements
- Electrical Technologist Diploma and/or Journeyman Electrician, Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration or a related field is preferred
- Familiarity with interpreting blueprints and specifications to formulate time, cost, and labor estimates; experience in the Electric Utility Industry is a plus.
- Knowledge of estimating processes relevant to electric distribution, transmission, and substation projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera) and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Self-motivated and capable of maintaining focus on tasks for extended periods.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and interact with various stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel across United States; valid driver's license required.
