Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Assurance Auditor to join our condo team. This role involves conducting financial audits for condominium corporations, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience in assurance engagements, strong technical knowledge, and the ability to communicate financial insights to clients effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation of files, approximately 3-4 per week.
- Audit of complex financial statements independently, on as needed basis. This includes thorough planning, identification, and resolution of engagement issues, complete working paper organization and evidence, and thorough clearing of queries.
- Plan, execute, and complete audit engagements for condominium corporations.
- Assess financial records, internal controls, and compliance with relevant regulations.
- Identify and communicate audit risks and recommendations to clients and leadership team.
- Ensure audits are conducted in accordance with professional standards.
- Work closely with clients, property managers, and board members to address financial concerns.
- Assist with financial statement preparation and disclosure requirements.
- Preparation of letters and other communications to clients.
- Keep abreast of current and emerging assurance, accounting, Condo Act, and tax developments (i.e. attending required PD courses, maintaining required PD hours and self-study).
- Other duties as assigned.
Education + Qualifications:
- CPA designation (or working towards completion) preferred.
- Bachelors degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- 2+ years of audit experience, preferably in the condominium or real estate sector.
- Experience with condominium audits is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of ASPE, CAS, and applicable condominium regulations.
- Proficiency in audit software (e.g., CaseWare, Taxprep) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and project management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills with a high attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively and build strong client relationships.
