What Youll Deliver:

APOLLO Insurance is looking for a Business Development Manager, Broker Distribution to support our rapid expansion. This person has an opportunity to make a significant impact on a fast-paced Insurtech company as we build out our team. The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying and creating new partnerships, and growing APOLLOs brand within the broker distribution network.

Responsibilities - We promise it wont be mundane.

Business development to add new users and brokerages:

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities that align with the companys underwriting appetite and strategic goals.
  • Engage with industry professionals through LinkedIn connections, regular posting, and interactions
  • Participate in new product launches through broker outreach and leveraging key brokerage contacts to promote internally while working with the Insurance Product Manager to gather valuable feedback
  • Learn the ins and outs of our product offering so you are confident in how to help educate our customers through demonstrations and training sessions

Work with existing brokers to grow exchange usage:

  • Offer brokers education on insurance product, sales strategy, and market insights
  • Engaging in conversations with merchants to identify and resolve issues, and provide coaching/growth opportunities
  • Acknowledge positive interactions brokers have had with APOLLO by sending gifts and tokens of our appreciation
  • Be a strong advocate for APOLLO brokers, ensuring that opportunities and issues are brought forward to relevant stakeholders
  • Using Intercom for communication, setting targets, admin and management of broker functions
  • Attend conventions, seminars and networking events (travel will be required)
  • Coordinate and host online video calls, webinars and broker training sessions

Provide support and assistance with the Underwriting team:

  • Adhering to a daily schedule that includes a mix of: Phones, incoming live chats, and emails
  • Assist with brokerage audits, ensuring both usage and GWP targets are met and quality of accounts by taking action if necessary
  • Identify opportunities to optimize internal processes and communicate with the development team to create automation solutions
  • Share best practices and product/process improvement ideas with peers and other segments of the business
  • Help design new on-boarding processes and systems so customers achieve high activation and retention rates
  • Identify gaps in our resources (documentation, training videos, etc)
  • Provide closed-loop feedback with the team to ensure continuous process optimization
  • Extracting and Analyzing Various Data Sets from our proprietary metabase data lake

This is a remote position with frequent in person requirements in the Greater Toronto Area.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of insurance knowledge in SME and/or Personal Lines
  • Minimum 3 years experience in business development, priority with past experience with broker business development or broker experience
  • Understanding of customer service processes and workflows
  • Positive and energetic phone communication skills, excellent listening skills, strong writing skills
  • Creative and solution-oriented
  • A self-starter with a high level of customer empathy, you know how to listen, and constructively engage with customers
  • Entrepreneurial spirit that takes ownership of their work
  • Highly organized and superior attention to detail
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently with a strong entrepreneurial mindset

Bonus Points:

  • Existing network in the Canadian P&C Broker community
  • Underwriting or broking background with technical knowledge of multi-line (package) insurance policy and wordings
  • Understanding of endorsements, exclusions, and their impact on coverage
  • Understanding of workflows of policy journey (submission, triage, quote, policy issuance and billing)
  • Well known in insurance brokerage community, strong LinkedIn presence
  • Insurance course work demonstrating the desire to continue growing and deepening technical insurance fundamentals
  • Knowledge of Intercom, Hubspot, Google Suite an asset
  • Knowledge of MGAs
