Key Responsibilities:

As part of our IT Security and Cyber Protection Program, your responsibilities could include, but are not limited to:

  • Reviewing, analyzing, and applying knowledge of Canadian universities and industrial IT security R&D capabilities.

  • Working with Directory Standards such as X.400, X.500, and SMTP.

  • Understanding and applying Networking Protocols like HTTP, FTP, and Telnet.

  • Implementing and analyzing internet security protocols such as SSL, S-HTTP, S-MIME, IPSec, and SSH.

  • Managing Wireless Security and Bluetooth standards to ensure the safety of network connections.

  • Applying TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, SMTP, and SNMP standards and protocols.

  • Administering Intrusion Detection Systems, firewalls, and content checkers to safeguard systems.

  • Implementing Cryptographic Algorithms to protect data integrity and confidentiality.

  • Following and promoting security best practices to ensure compliance and safety.

  • Developing and implementing Security Programs such as biometrics, digital rights management, RFID, access control, and removable media management.

  • Designing and developing security prototypes to test and innovate solutions.

  • Conducting research on open source materials to stay ahead of emerging technologies and trends.

  • Developing proof-of-concept models and conducting trials for IT Security initiatives.

  • Analyzing Research & Development reports to guide the advancement of IT security technologies.

  • Participating in national/international R&D forums to share knowledge and collaborate on innovations.

  • Completing tasks that directly support the departmental IT Security and Cyber Protection Program.

  • Developing and delivering training materials relevant to the resource category to enhance team expertise.

Experience Levels We Are Hiring For:

We are considering candidates across the following experience levels:

  • Level 1: Less than 5 years of experience

  • Level 2: 5 to less than 10 years of experience

  • Level 3: 10 or more years of experience

Skills & Qualifications:Must-Have:
  • Security Clearance: Enhanced Reliability

  • Strong experience with SSL, FTP, Telnet, S-MIME, and JPSec protocols.

  • Familiarity with X.400/X.500 Directory Standards and X.509 Certificate Protocols.

  • Proficient in Cryptographic Algorithms and their practical applications in IT security.

  • Experience in developing proof-of-concept models and conducting trials for IT security solutions.

Nice-to-Have:
  • Knowledge of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and its security implications.

  • Active participation in national/international R&D forums related to IT security.

  • Familiarity with removable media management protocols and security techniques.

  • Bilingual: Fluent in both French and English.
