Position Summary:

The Sanitation Operator plays a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and overall hygiene of a food manufacturing facility. This individual is responsible for ensuring that the production and warehouse areas and all related equipment comply with health and safety standards, food safety regulations, and company policies. The Sanitation Operator helps create a clean environment that supports the production of safe, high-quality food products.

Responsibilities & Expectations:
  • Clean and sanitize production floors, walls, the sanitation room, and warehouse areas. Occasionally clean production equipment as directed by the supervisor
  • Dispose of garbage in appropriate receptacles.
  • Follow cleaning schedules and use the right cleaning chemicals and tools.
  • Ensure safe and proper handling and storage of all cleaning chemicals and tools.
  • Ensure compliance and cleaning standards of all areas are within food safety regulations and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of cleaning and sanitation procedures and schedules.
  • Report any sanitation or safety issues to supervisors.
  • Assist with general housekeeping tasks in production and warehouse areas of the facility.
  • Assist with deep cleaning projects and annual cleaning activities.
  • Assist with other maintenance and cleaning/groundskeeping activities as required.
  • Notify management of equipment that is not working properly.
  • Performing all duties in compliance with Health Canada, FDA, OSHA, and state and local regulations and company policies and procedures, including safety guidelines and the use of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Desired Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Have the ability to comprehend basic verbal instructions and read product labels and safety warnings. And perform work according to SOP.
  • Have good mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
  • HACCP certification is an asset.
  • Previous cleaning experience is an asset.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work well with a team.
  • Have a high level of job motivation and the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Be reliable and dependable; available to work Monday through Friday and occasionally Saturday or Sunday as directed by management.

Physical Requirements:

  • Reach, stoop, and bend at the waist repetitively throughout the entire shift.
  • Push/pull wheeled cart weighing 80 to 100 pounds. Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Empty wheeled cart that is full to capacity, weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to walk and/or stand for an entire shift.
