Working with the Manager, Finance and Administration, you will handle accounts payable, bank reconciliations, invoice processing, and support audit preparations, playing a key role in maintaining the Authority's financial accuracy and efficiency.Why Work With Us?The Essex-Windsor Solid Waste Authority (EWSWA) is the governmental agency charged with the responsibility of providing an economical and environmentally conscious integrated solid waste management system for the County of Essex (County) and the City of Windsor (City). The mission of the EWSWA is to provide programs to manage the solid, non-hazardous waste generated in the County and the City in an environmentally sound manner through processes which include, but are not necessarily limited to reduction, reuse, recycling, composting, and landfilling.What You'll DoIn this role, you will be responsible for:
1. Financial Administration
- Processing bills of ladings and tracking tonnages for recyclable materials, invoicing customers where necessary and confirming the receipt of payment for all loads
- Conducting physical inventory counts for all saleable merchandise
- Performing cash audits at all sites and maintaining petty cash
- Preparing and submitting the quarterly HST filings to the Canada Revenue Agency
- Receiving and distributing Accounts Payable invoices for account coding and payment approval
- Analyzing invoices, preparing monthly compensation for payment, and processing cheques
- Calculating HST rebates and maintaining accurate records of financial transactions
- Assisting in the preparation of year-end audit working papers by reconciling various balance sheets and/or income statement accounts
- Assisting with EWSWA's budget preparation
- Maintaining accurate financial documentation and ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations
- Making recommendations to the Manager, Finance & Administration regarding improvements to existing procedures and practices
- Supporting departmental events and fulfilling additional responsibilities as needed
- An advanced three-year diploma in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years related accounting experience
- Working knowledge of Sage (Intact), Accpac or other accounting software
- Working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite Programs
- Knowledge of accounting principles and concepts
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class “G” Ontario driver's license and have access to a personal vehicle for work-related travel within Windsor and/or the County of Essex
- Must provide a Ministry of Transportation Driver Abstract (Uncertified)
- Must provide a Police Information Check (PIC) document
