The Head Swim Instructor oversees all aspects of swim instruction, ensuring the delivery of high-quality aquatic programs that cater to various age groups and skill levels. This role involves teaching lessons, reviewing lesson plans, supervising swim instructors, and maintaining a safe and engaging environment for all participants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review lesson plans to ensure they are engaging, effective, and promote water safety and swimming proficiency while aligning with swimmers' abilities and current swim levels.
- Instruct swim lessons, demonstrating proper techniques and fostering a positive learning environment for students.
- Conduct water interviews, train, and supervise a team of swim instructors, providing ongoing mentorship and professional development opportunities.
- Conduct regular evaluations of instructors to ensure the quality and consistency of swim instruction.
- Observe and enforce all safety rules and regulations to prevent accidents and ensure a safe swimming environment.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and program participation.
- Communicate effectively with participants and their families regarding progress, schedules, and any program changes.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a swim instructor, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
- Required valid certifications: Standard First Aid with CPR-C, and National Lifeguard.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work with diverse age groups and skill levels.
- Previous competitive swimming experience is an asset.
