Salary: $70,000 - $80,000 per year

Hours:

  • Monday - Thursday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Friday: 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM

About Our Client:Our client is a well-established, medium-sized business in the construction industry. The office has a small-business environment, take pride in maintaining a strong work-life balance, while managing large-scale projects.

As they continue to grow, they are looking for an experienced and proactive Bookkeeper to bring all accounting functions in-house, streamlining operations and ensuring financial accuracy.

Role Overview:We are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to step into a Controller-style role. This individual will take ownership of all accounting functions, overseeing financial operations, managing cash flow, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. This role is ideal for someone with experience in construction, handling large sums of money, working with subcontractors, and offering insights into cost-saving strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of bookkeeping and accounting (A-Z) in-house
  • Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable
  • Ensure accurate financial reporting up to Notice to Reader level
  • Work closely with an external accountant for year-end reporting
  • Monitor profit and loss, identify cost-saving opportunities, and manage financial risk
  • Reconcile payroll to the general ledger (Payroll is managed separately but may require reporting assistance)
  • Assist with financial data analysis and project profitability tracking
  • Ensure seamless integration and utilization of Sage Intacct, Build Up, and Rippling
  • Support the transition of AR duties to HR and Health & Safety

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Senior Bookkeeper, Accountant, or Controller
  • Experience in the construction industry (preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of Sage Intacct (or similar accounting systems)
  • Familiarity with subcontractor financial management
  • Confident in handling large transactions and monitoring project budgets
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of financial operations
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving
