Primoris Canada is an infrastructure contractor serving major firms in the oil, gas, power, petrochemical, and heavy oil industries and include services covering tailings and hydro-transport pipeline construction and maintenance, storage tank construction and maintenance, industrial facilities multi-discipline construction and maintenance, piping fabrication, and pipeline integrity services.

SUMMARY

The Purchaser/Buyer within the Fleet Group is responsible for procuring parts, services, and appointments necessary to maintain the company's fleet of vehicles and equipment. This role is crucial to ensuring that our fleet remains operational, minimizing downtime, and supporting the overall productivity of the company. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement, preferably within the construction or automotive industries, and will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work under pressure.

Shift: Monday-Friday

JOB DUTIES

Procurement of Parts and Services:

  • Source and purchase heavy equipment parts, tools, and supplies for the fleet shop, ensuring high quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to secure the best terms, including price, delivery time, and payment conditions.
  • Manage relationships with vendors, ensuring compliance with contracts and maintaining a strong supplier network.

Shop Support:

  • Collaborate closely with the fleet maintenance team to understand their needs and ensure timely delivery of required parts and materials.
  • Monitor inventory levels in the shop and manage reordering to avoid shortages.
  • Handle the logistics of parts and supplies, including transportation and delivery scheduling.

Appointment Coordination:

  • Schedule and manage appointments for fleet maintenance, repairs, inspections, and other services.
  • Ensure that all appointments are tracked and documented, maintaining a detailed record of fleet maintenance activities.

Cost Management:

  • Monitor and control expenditures, ensuring that procurement aligns with the company's budget and financial goals.
  • Conduct regular cost analyses to identify opportunities for savings and process improvements.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of purchases, contracts, and communications with suppliers.
  • Prepare regular reports on procurement activities, spending, and inventory levels for management review.
  • Other duties as required by management.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or Parts Technician preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably within the construction, automotive, or fleet management industries.
  • Strong understanding of automotive/off road equipment parts and services.

  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and procurement software.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
