OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a Retail Marketing Specialist to join our team in Ottawa. As a key player in our retail marketing efforts, you will be responsible for developing and implementing digital and in-store marketing campaigns designed to drive retail sales and enhance brand awareness.

This is a contract position to cover a maternity leave. The length of the contract will be 12-18 months and will start in July 2025.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Social Media Content Creation

  • Develop high-quality, engaging content in various formats, including copy and images.
  • Ensure all content is optimized for each platform and adheres to brand guidelines.

Retail In-Store Marketing

  • Develop eye-catching campaigns for in-store execution, including bi-monthly promotional campaigns and retail signage to enhance the customer shopping experience.
  • Gain a strong understanding of retail product selection and merchandising to develop effective messaging.

Analytics & Reporting

  • Utilize analytics tools to track and report on customer touchpoints, including but not limited to Google Reviews, customer feedback surveys, website analytics for Quickie, and social media metrics.
  • Provide regular reports and insights to measure the success of social and digital marketing efforts.

Communications

  • Develop and manage monthly content plans, including creative copywriting and securing all stakeholder approvals.
  • Assist the Marketing Director with internal and external communications as needed, including company newsletters and retail communications.
  • Act as the marketing point of contact for Avida a third-party digital agency and hardware provider.

Email Marketing

  • Create monthly email marketing campaigns designed to amplify web content, build customer affinity, and drive retail traffic and sales.

Industry Trends & Innovation

  • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in digital and social media marketing.
  • Proactively suggest innovative ideas to enhance the brand's online presence.

Community Engagement

  • Foster and grow online communities through active engagement, responding to comments, and participating in relevant discussions on social media.

Implement strategies to increase audience interaction and brand advocacy.

EDUCATION & SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE:

  • Degree or Diploma in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Three to five years of proven experience in consumer marketing, social media management, and content creation.
  • Creative mindset with a keen eye for design and visual aesthetics.
  • Strong understanding of retail or consumer marketing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; French is an asset.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate multi-faceted marketing programs effectively with key stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams is required.
  • Working knowledge of Wix Studio, Google Analytics, MailerLite, SurveyMonkey Pro, SuperMetrics, and StorePoint is an asset (training can be provided).
  • Experience in retail or trade marketing is considered an asset.
