Sterling Ridge Group is a Group of Construction Based Companies that operate throughout Ontario. We are looking for an experienced, motivated, disciplined Safety Coordinator in Oakville, Ontario. This is a contract position (approximately 8 months).
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures compliance with Health and Safety standards and legal regulations
- Provides Safety Orientation/Onboarding for new employees
- Troubleshoots electrical issues in the manufacturing environment
- Tracks and log tasks while observing plant activities
- Oversees plant activities as they relate to safety
- Identifies hazards and applies safe work practices and procedures
JOB TASKS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Communicates and provides guidance to electrical workers on plant floor
- Conducts new employee health and safety orientation
- Conducts incident investigation, reporting and implementation of corrective actions
- Analyzes routine job tasks for hazards and identifies safer ways of performing job duties
- Ability to track and log tasks
- Maintains a sound knowledge of legislative standards, health and safety
- Works and acts in a professional manner in keeping with the Sterling Ridge Group Agenda and all other company standards
- Identifies and communicates training requirements to ensure a continued level of expertise
- Completes incident/accident reports and investigations as required
- Is Comfortable Interacting with internal and external contacts, with the ability to take initiative in building relationships independently
- Demonstrates strength in critical thinking and decisive action in high stress situations
- Demonstrates ability to work within a team environment as well as independently
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Post-Secondary School Diploma or Degree Preferred
- NSCO Preferred
- Must have Lock Out/Tag Out training and strong understanding of hazardous energy
- Electrical industrial safety experience and knowledge in the installation of electrical equipment
- Experience with assembly plant conveyor systems
- Must have strong computer skills Microsoft Office, Excel, and incident management software
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication and leadership skills
- Have a solid understanding of Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations OHS Regulations
- Valid drivers license with a clean drivers abstract
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (this role may be required to speak publicly and engage with members of the public on occasion)
- Ability to interpret and apply technical requirements
- Capable of multiple physical demands including lifting (up to 25 kg), hiking, entering, and exiting equipment, and working at heights
