AHCs supports are available in the Greeter Edmonton Area and Northern Alberta Small Towns in collaboration with hundreds of partners and stakeholders. The organization is governed by a diverse group of engaged professionals representing various sectors and areas, aligning with its vision, mission, and mandate.

AHC Board is looking for volunteer Board Members who are driven by the belief that all individuals, including newcomers, with their rich and diverse backgrounds, are critical to Canada's economic growth. The Board of Directors works with the Executive Director to ensure the organization's effective governance and meets monthly with a summer off every year. Occasionally, Board Members represent AHC at various forums and attend various community activities or events.

Role and Responsibilities

Being a policy board, the Board of Directors are responsible for effective governance by setting the organizations strategic goals, direction, limitations, and accountability. Other critical areas of responsibility include policy development, organizational financial due diligence, and risk assessment and management. Board Members may also participate in committee work and are expected to volunteer 2 to 3 hours a month.

Length of Term: 2 years extendable

Currently, AHC Board is looking to fill three (3) vacant board member positions with experience in one or more of the following areas:

Accounting and Financial Management preferably with a CPA designation

Community capacity building and development, monitoring, evaluation and measurement

Any other fields relevant to AHC vision and mission

We are looking for a diverse group of committed individuals who want to make a difference in their community. The volunteer board position is an excellent opportunity to leverage your experience, add value, and make a difference by giving back to the community.

Qualifications:

Previous board experience is an asset but not a requirement to be considered for these positions. A criminal background check would be required.
